Prague has always loved music, and musicians have always loved Prague. 2014 is a gift to music lovers from far and wide: Thanks to several Czech music anniversaries celebrated this year (Dvořk, Smetana and Janček, as well as the Prague Symphony Orchestra), 2014 has been declared the Year of Czech Music, with classical superstars Sir Simon Rattle and Magdalena Kozen as Artistic Patrons and Maestro Jiř Bělohlvek as honorary President.Whether you are a seasoned music aficionado or casual listener, in 2014 you are certain to find a music event or ten to suit your tastes. Hearing a work of music in Prague, be it a favorite opera in the same theatre where it premiered, an experimental jazz piece at one of Prague's new jazz clubs, or a band of street musicians on Charles Bridge, the city is as much a part of the experience as the music itself
