On September 26, the Institute of Museum and Library Services announced grants for 42 library projects totaling $14,670,662. Six ULC members will be undertaking groundbreaking work in digital media, summer learning, STEM program development, early childhood literacy and adult literacy/workforce development. Read more.
Now is the time to start working on 2014 Summer Learning Programs. A great place to start is the National Summer Learning Association's upcoming conference, Summer Changes Everything. This conference features leading experts on the benefits of high-quality summer learning programs as well as practitioners who know what works. Clyde Scoles, Director of Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, is the winner of the
Touchstone Lifetime Achiever Award from the Press Club of Toledo! Judges noted,"Fostering and improving literacy in our society is the key to a better informed and more competent workforce. Further, the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library system is one of the crown jewels of our community. Toledo and the surrounding area are very fortunate to have this person at the helm."
