Winter, a lingering season,
is a time to gather golden moments,
embark upon a sentimental journey,
and enjoy every idle hour.

The Foundation is pleased to announce that Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, a well-loved tourist destination on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Blowing Rock, has been added to the National Register of Historic Places.

As many in our Community of Stewards know, the Foundation has worked with Parkway staff and leadership for more than 14 years on projects at Moses H. Cone Memorial Park.

"This is a milestone that makes official the significance of the estate and manor house" said Carolyn Ward, CEO of the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation. "We feel a great deal of satisfaction that the important historic and cultural significance of the estate has now been officially recognized. Of course, this is also a beginning. The Foundation will continue..." read more here.

469 Campaign - We Made It!

Once again, our Community of Stewards came together for another successful 469 Campaign...and we knocked it out of the PARK! We received over 550 year-end gifts to help protect the Parkway, up several dozen gifts from last year. Each of these gifts helps us protect the Parkway treasures we all love, like Mabry Mill, Graveyard Fields and the Blue Ridge Music Center. From all of us, thank you for your continued support. We are making a difference!

Kids in Parks News

The Kids in Parks program celebrates the opening of several trails this month.

Join us on January 17th at 1pm for the Grand Opening of the City Lake Park TRACK Trail in Albemarle, NC!

Other trails now open for TRACKing:

Need a fun activity for the little ones,

perhaps when schools are closed for bad weather?

Enjoy this month's TRACKtivity all about owls, who are out nesting right now in January.

Parkway Place Challenge

Last month's answer was Rough Ridge. If you submitted a correct answer, the randomly selected winners will be drawn this week, and you will be notified if you are one of the winners.

Do you have a photo that you think would be a great puzzler? Submit it here!
