Welcome to GISC!
Welcome Back!
German International School Chicago started its fifth year on Wednesday, August 28, welcoming 64 students (37 returning and 27 new) ranging from preschool through fourth grade. GISC was also happy to welcome back all of its full-time teachers from last year as well as two new teachers: Kathrin Yksel from Baden-Wrtemberg, who will work with the preschoolers, and Laura Eddelbttel from Hamburg, who will work with the Kindergarten and elementary school students. Welcome new GISC teachers and families!
Science Room
New Classrooms
With the purchase of the 1447 W Montrose building in April, GISC was able to expand into several new classrooms for this school year. In addition to our existing four classrooms, lunchroom, and smaller breakout rooms for the upper grades, we now have a dedicated art/music room, science room, and English room. Special thanks to our school director, teachers, Board members and parents for their hard work over the summer getting our building and these new spaces ready!
2013 German Day Parade
Von Steuben German Day Parade
More than 60 GISC parents and kids (and a few GISC alumni!) supported GISC in the Von Steuben German Day Parade in Lincoln Square on Saturday, September 7. Families enjoyed riding on our float and handing out candy to the spectators lining the parade route, and many families stayed after the parade to enjoy the German Day festivities.
