W Encourager Header
Welcome to EFC-ER's Weekly Encourager. We trust that this will become a bright spot each week in your emails. The purpose of the Weekly Encourager is to provide up-to-date information about region-wide events, prayer requests, and helpful resources from the local churches. We will close each email with a quick quote and/or survey to gather helpful resources from leaders to share with our wider Friends family.

We hope everyone (not just pastors and delegates) will join us for Yearly Meeting, July 18-21, 2015. We will share a Mission Encounter, listen to a concert from Dick and Mel Tunney (http://www.tunneymusic.com), and worship and grow together as we learn to live "In Perspective."

COMING YOUR WAY - Pastors, Secretaries, and Presiding Clerks: watch your mail for delegate sheets and YM brochures coming soon in two separate mailings! Please return your delegate sheets to Julia McDonald at [email protected] or mail them, to her attention, to the WOC.

"As a first time camper at Gideon, I wasn't sure what to expect, and felt intimidated and a bit uncomfortable before I arrived. My expectations on that first day were met by smiling faces and warm personalities, and because of that, I fell in love with Camp Gideon. One of the other main reasons I fell in love with Gideon was because the staff have an authentic love for Christ and camp, and they embraced me regardless of my background and my differences. I made long-lasting relationships with others and grew in my relationships with Christ at Gideon. It became a second home for me and one of the places God used to heal some of my inner brokenness from the past. I know for a fact that what helped aid in the healing process was the love that the staff poured into my life. Their love drew back much of the fear that had a such a strong grasp on my life from my past." - Mikhail R.

Send your own story about an experience you or a family member had at Camp Gideon to [email protected]. We'd love to hear it!
The Summer Ministries Staff met in the beginning of this month for prayer and worship in preparation for this summer. Continue to keep them in your prayers as they enter the camp season.

Continue to send registrations to the EFC-ER c/o Julie Martin. You may find the registration information at www.campgideon.org

Keeping Prayer a High Priority
We trust that every church is sharing these prayer requests within their local prayer community. Here are this week's requests:

1 - Our prayers and sympathy to the family of Pastor Earl Kelbaugh, former pastor at Battle Creek; Newport News; Jackson, MI; Smithfield; and Bellfontaine Friends Churches, who passed away on Tuesday, May 19. The service was held on Saturday, May 23 and you may find the obituary here: http://www.ctcfuneralandcremation.com/obituaries/Earl-Kelbaugh/#!/Obituary
2 - Dan Cammack (EFM) sent this report last week, "Nepal is no longer in the headline news but the ground is still trembling and the relief efforts are still ongoing. Please continue to pray for the needs in Nepal. Much wisdom is needed as we begin to turn our attention more towards the long-term need of reconstruction. And it would boost the morale of the people in Nepal a great deal if the ground stopped moving."
3 - Connie Bancroft (MAB and Alliance Friends), "expresses her deepest appreciation for all who participated in the healing/anointing service at Pastors Conference and for the prayers that were lifted before the throne of grace on her behalf these past several weeks regarding medical decisions she was making. Recent medical procedures and tests have proven God's divine healing touch upon her life." She does request continued prayer for follow-up discussions with medical personnel in the weeks ahead.
4 - Please pray for Galen Oakes, former staff pastor at Jackson Friends, who is fighting B cell lymphoma. For more information, visit his Facebook page "Touched by the King."

Victor and Lori Tovar will be home June 1st to July 31st and would like to see as many friends as time allows. They are having two gatherings at the Belden Village Mall Food Court, in Canton, OH from 5-8pm on Thursday, June 4th and 5-8pm on Tuesday, July 14th. They are also open to going out for coffee or coming over for dinner. The Tovars are available to speak in churches July 19 and 26. (Note: since the 19th is during Yearly Meeting, they will not be able to travel too far from Canton.) Email Victor and Lori at [email protected] to let them know you are interested.

Michael and Vivian Crigline have also returned to the U.S. for their son's graduation. Due to a recent (and exciting) decision by the Jian Hua Foundation (JHF) Board to name Michael as the next General Executive Director, they will be moving to Hong Kong. They are available to speak at churches as well. To schedule, contact Michael and Vivian directly at  (330) 617 - 6751 or  [email protected]
