It's important for us to acknowledge, recognize, thank and praise God, our Father, every day.  Jesus teaches us to pray, "Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be your name."(Matthew 6:9, KJV)  As God's children, we are grateful and blessed to be able to do so.

On a different note, our recognition and thankfulness to God our Father should also be reflected in our lives with our earthly fathers.  Do we treat dad with kindness, respect and thankfulness?  Are we grateful to the Lord for him.  Paul says, "'Honor your father and mother' (this is the first commandment with a promise)."(Ephesians 6:2, ESV)  In these difficult days, with trouble and false teaching running rampant in society, it is vital for children to remember their fathers and mothers, and to listen to them.  This helps younger people stay safe and not go astray, and, by God's grace, may even lead to longer and better lives.

This Father's Day, Sunday the 21st, let us remember God the Father first and foremost.  At the same time, please remember to recognize and honor your earthly father.  By God's grace, he is a wonderful blessing to you from the Lord.
