May 2015
President's Message

Sharon Mitchell

As the calendar turns to May - spring has arrived, school activities are peaking, and spring sports are in full swing.  So is Impact 100!

We are well on the way to identifying the Grant Recipient Finalists.  Our Focus Area Committees are studying the grant applications submitted by the many wonderful non-profit organizations in our community.  We started the year with over 100 Letters of Intent, and had 32 non-profit agencies submit a full grant application.  Our five Focus Area Committees are now "narrowing the playing field" and selecting several agencies for a site visit.  Following the site visits, each Focus Area Committee will select one Finalist, with the opportunity to also recommend a second.  A Committee of the Board will select one or two additional Finalists from these recommendations, and we will end up with 6-7 Finalists.

You will have an opportunity to meet the Finalists on
June 23rd. Stay Tuned!  And SAVE THE DATE.

I'd like to share with you the thanks we got recently from Crayons to Computers, one of our 2013 Grant Recipients, as they reported on the progress of their Mobile Outreach Program (MOP).  Recall, they staffed and equipped a van to deliver much-needed school supplies to schools in out-lying areas.  Crayons to Computers wrote:  "Our MOP Coordinator has been privy to thousands of smiling faces, kids asking if they can actually keep the supplies that they have been given and Superintendents, Principles, Teachers and Parents sharing the impact that our work has on their school and for their kids and students."

A HUGE THANKS to all the Impact 100 members responsible for these supplies and these SMILES.

Impact 100 remains committed to giving as many grants as we can - so please help us recruit the 2016 membership class. Tell a friend about Impact 100 and bring a friend to an Impact 100 event.  It's truly amazing - when women attend an event and have an opportunity to hear about the transformational grants that Impact 100 has given - many of them join!  Recruiting for 2016 has begun - and we already have several new members!!!

Have a wonderful May and enjoy spring!  I look forward to seeing you at a future Impact 100 event.

SPREAD THE JOY. SPREAD THE IMPACT.

Warm Regards,

Sharon Mitchell

President, Impact 100

Become a Liaison!
Interested in helping Impact 100 newbies connect?  Become a liaison!

We are looking for liaisons to help keep our new members sticky and engaged with Impact 100 throughout the year. It's a pretty simple role - we give you the names of 10-20 people that joined Impact 100 in 2015 and soon 2016!  We ask that you touch base with them by phone, email, snail mail - whatever works for you and them about every other month between now and year end. The time commitment is pretty minimal. Our new member mom, Daniela Neukam will provide you with a script and guidance which you can choose to use or not.  Please contact Daniela at  [email protected]  if you are interested in making an impact in keeping our new members connected and engaged.

Mother's Day Member Spotlight

Leah Slicer, Lindsey Huhn, Jenna Huhn and Lora Huhn
Impact 100 Members

Who we are?
Sisters: Leah Slicer, Lindsey Huhn and Jenna Huhn.  Our mom is Lora Huhn.

What got you involved in Impact 100?
Lora's friend and Impact 100 member Angie Otis invited her to a "wine tasting".  In reality, it was an Impact 100 event.  After 4 events and talking with different board members, she could see what a difference Impact 100 was making and got really excited.  She didn't know where to start and felt Impact 100 was her opportunity to make real change in Cincinnati.  The sisters joined after attending several events with our mom as guests.  We were so inspired by what a difference Impact 100 was making in our city and wanted to be apart of it.

What keeps you a member?
Impact 100 is driven by successful, empowered women who are striving and determined to make our city better.  As young women, we feel a responsibility to help with this initiative and continue to grow Impact 100 so that we can make an even bigger difference.

CONGRATULATIONS to Megan Hoelker - our newest member! She was gifted a 1/2 membership for 2016 as a result of the First Quarter Recruiting Challenge.

Megan is a young, bubbly, and hard working woman with a big heart for philanthropy. She was recently married and moved to the West End of OTR. She has wonderful ideas to help Impact 100 grow and would like to thank her gorgeous friend Lindsey Huhn for introducing her to such a phenomenal group of women! She is excited to be a part of Impact 100 and says, "Be the change that you wish to see in the world!"

Last Call for 2015 Sponsors!

As you know, 100% of Impact 100 member donations are awarded to grant recipients so it is necessary for Impact 100 to seek additional donors, grants and sponsorship dollars in order to host the many events we have and to cover expenses and administration costs.

In previous years, Impact 100 solicited corporate sponsors only for the Annual Awards Celebration event. After careful consideration, we elected to enlist 2015 "annual" sponsors. In lieu of exposure at one annual event, our 2015 sponsors will receive year-long exposure on our website, at all events, as well as receive a host of additional exposure opportunity.

We expect this will be a win-win as our members will also have a greater opportunity to hear and learn more about each of our corporate sponsor's product/service offerings.

Most sponsorship levels are category exclusive so if you know of a company who might be interested, please have them contact us as soon as possible. For more information, contact
[email protected].

Support Impact 100 while Shopping!

We have two easy ways to support IMPACT 100 by doing the things you normally do - - shopping at Amazon and Kroger!

Graduation season, Mother's Day, summer vacation and backyard bar-b-que time is almost here! Whatever your shopping needs, we have the perfect solution for you!  Go to smile.amazon.com - select Impact 100 Inc as your charity, and start shopping!

By shopping at smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com, 0.5 percent of the value of your purchase will be donated to Impact 100. Please note that smile.amazon.com is the same Amazon you already know. Same products, same prices, same service.
