Westland's 3rd Annual Blues, Brews and BBQ - Mayor Wild invites you to attend Westland's 3rd Annual Blues, Brews and BBQ on Friday, September 20 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday, September 21 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The event will feature great BBQ from local restaurants, music from the Detroit Blue's Society's most popular acts and a wide variety of some of Michigan's most popular micro-brewed beers. This year, Friday night will also feature "Bike Night" as area motorcycle enthusiasts are welcome to join all the fun. There will be reserved parking for bikes, as well as bike memorabilia and bike themed giveaways. Free Hockey Clinic - The Mike Modano Ice Arena will hold a free hockey clinic on Saturday, September 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The free trial is for children ages 4-9 years old who are interested in trying hockey for the first time. All equipment is provided. The clinics are sponsored by the Detroit Red Wings Foundation. The Mike Modano Ice Arena is located at 6210 N. Wildwood. For more information, call (734)729-4560.

Native American Heritage Day - Wayne County Parks and the North American Indian Association will host Native American Heritage Day on Saturday, September 21 at the Nankin Mills Interpretive Center from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event will include a traditional drum circle and dancers in beautiful regalia. Native American crafts and food will be available for purchase. Due to limited seating, please bring a lawn chair. The Nankin Mills Interpretive Center is located at 33175 Ann Arbor Trail. Scheduled Upcoming Civic Meetings - Residents are invited to attend the upcoming City meetings. Below is a list of the meetings with their date, time and location.

- There will be a meeting of the Tax Increment Finance Authority on Tuesday, September 24 at 9:00 a.m in the Westland City Hall Conference Room located at 36601 Ford Rd.

-The Rehabilitation Board will meet on Tuesday, September 24 at 4:30 p.m. at the Dorsey Center located at 32715 Dorsey.

-The meeting of the Downtown Development Authority will be held on Thursday, September 26 at 8:00 a.m. in the Westland City Hall Conference Room located at 36601 Ford Rd.

Livonia Public Schools Neighborhood Meeting - Livonia Public Schools invites residents near Nankin Mills Elementary School to a neighborhood meeting on Tuesday, September 24 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Western Wayne Skill Center located at 8075 Ritz. Administrators will present information on plans to take down the vacant school and maintain the site as open space. For questions, call Stacy Jenkins at (734)744-2533.

Westland Farmer's Market Held Every Thursday - The Westland Farmer's Market will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. every Thursday in the City Hall Parking Lot, located at 36601 Ford Road. This is the ultimate site for farmers, growers and producers to sell their own products directly to the public. Residents now have the opportunity to catch a FREE ride to the market at the following locations and times. *All times are approximate and dependent on weather, traffic, available space, etc.

Cyclists, Skaters, Runners & Walkers Enjoy Hines Park Traffic Free - Saturday's in the Park have returned to Hines Drive and offers visitors the opportunity to walk, run, skate or cycle safely from 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. without the concern of motor vehicle traffic.
