TeamDoorwaysPicDoorways Celebrates Prom

Many of our residents did not experience their own high school prom or may not have had a positive experience. "The event was designed to show support for our residents and let them have a chance to have fun and celebrate," Taylor McCabe, event organizer said.

Members of the Gateway Men's Chorus performed selections from their summer concert " Prom" and a local deejay provided dance music. Joye Forrest, the first black Miss Teen Missouri USA was on hand to help crown the evening's prom court. Attendees enjoyed dinner and dessert and received keepsakes from a professional photo booth courtesy of Party Booths

Doorways President and CEO, Opal M. Jones and Own Home Program Director, Brenda Malone, presented our L.I.F.T. (Living Independently For Tomorrow) program as a best practice at the Ryan White and HOPWA Grantees Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland.  We were invited by the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, which funded the trip.

L.I.F.T. is designed to help clients transition off on-going monthly rent assistance to self-sufficiency and independent living.
SoleOfARunnerDonations Go Further When Matched

Many companies want to support the causes that their employees care about, so they set up charitable giving programs through which they match employee donations to eligible nonprofits. Matching gift programs are offered by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Community Health Charities, Merrill Lynch, State Farm and many more!

While most companies match the donation 1:1, during the month of June, Covidien and Medtronic employees are eligible for a 2:1 match on qualifying donations. This means that for every $25 you give, an additional $50 will go to your eligible charity.

Find out whether your company offers a matching gift program!
