Student Leadership

New Leaders New York Conference

Over the summer Sage sent two students, Lauren Brady-Haskell and Thearse McCalmon, to the New Leaders New York (NLNY) conference at SUNY Albany. NLNY is an intensive program that instills the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for effective political engagement, community organizing and public service leadership. NLNY is part of the National Education for Women's (NEW) Leadership Network and is the first and only program in New York which uses the Network's evidence-based curriculum.

During the program, students explore the theory and practice of leadership, learn how citizens shape and influence public policy, and meet role models and pioneers who have successfully entered political life and made significant contributions on behalf of women.

"My experience with the NLNY Women's Leadership Conference is an experience that will be with me forever!" ~Thearse McCalmon, President, NADIE-Native American Daughters in Education, RSC
