Swedish Institute is excited to launch an innovative Yoga Teacher Training program
in partnership with Studio Anya that brings together the fundamentals of bodywork and yoga to address chronic pain and illness from a clinical and therapeutic perspective, and brings yoga to the forefront of pain management.

The yoga profession, like massage and acupuncture, is evolving and maturing. As research continues to support the healing benefits of yoga for a wide variety of health conditions, yoga is gaining credibility and recognition in Western medical practices and is emerging as a complementary health care option to support sustainable healthcare strategies.

In this 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program, the principles and philosophies of Swedish Institute and Studio Anya come together to offer a unique training that combines recognized and time-tested modalities into one integrated method that blends the best of East & West healing fundamentals, and explores how to use yoga to alleviate chronic pain from a clinical perspective.

Our integrated approach addresses the root cause of chronic pain and pain-related conditions by assessing movement patterns and cultivating body-centered insights through the lens of anatomy, physiology and bodywork. Our training builds on the skills and knowledge of massage therapists and bodyworkers, who are used to looking at posture, alignment, imbalance and ergonomics to help people achieve health and healing. Like massage, yoga combines physical manipulation of the muscles with stretching techniques to release tension and free the body from painful myofascial restrictions arising from stress and tension that become lodged in the nervous system. You will learn how to use therapeutic poses and breathing exercises as tools to break the habitual movement patterns that cause pain and injury; to increase circulation and promote lymphatic drainage; to alleviate joint inflexibility and improve range of motion; and ultimately to not only promote recovery, but to help prevent the injury in the first place.

The Swedish Institute Yoga Teacher Training is a Yoga Alliance Registered program covering all of the requirements listed by Yoga Alliance for a 200-hour certification, with a tailored focus that ties the tools you are going to learn into a therapeutic system of pain management.
