Linda Satterfield Named a LIVE UNITED Volunteer of the Year

Alan Witchey, Volunteer Center Director, United Way of Central Indiana

presenting Linda Satterfield her award.

On March 13, the United Way of Central Indiana honored two companies, a nonprofit organization and seven individuals for outstanding community service. Among those awarded was the House's own, Linda Satterfield. For 16 years, Linda has provided the House with much-needed volunteer service, and has helped provide a comfortable home-away-from-home for our guests. Please join us in congratulating Linda for being named a LIVE UNITED Volunteer of the Year.

Join Us For One Or All Three Of Our Volunteer Retreats!

Each spring, RMHI volunteers and staff gather to enjoy each others company, share a meal, learn what is going on at the House and better understand the families we serve.  This year we are introducing two additional sessions to give more people the opportunity to participate. All three sessions will be from 6-8 p.m. in the conference room at our Limestone location. Each will include a "State of the House" presentation by CEO Michelle Study-Campbell and COO Beth Johnson plus a special guest speaking about a different topic at each session:
  • Wednesday, April 8 - Eileen Misluk will tell us about the new art therapy program we will be offering our families starting this fall.
  • Tuesday, April 28 - Sara Barnett from Child Life at Riley Hospital will talk about ways they can make a child's stay in the hospital a little easier.
  • Wednesday, April 29 - Dr. Ulrike Mietsch will talk about Riley Hospital's Neuro NICU.

A light meal will be served. Space is limited. To RSVP, please contact Mary Friend at [email protected] or add your name to the RSVP in the front office at Limestone.  Please remember to tell us which session(s) you plan on attending.

Sign up Today to Volunteer at the Carmel Marathon

We are excited that the Carmel Marathon has once again chosen the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana as their charitable partner for 2015! The Carmel Marathon will take place April 18 at The Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, IN.

"We're honored to partner with the Ronald McDonald House again for 2015," said Todd Oliver, president of Carmel Road Racing Group and race director for the Carmel Marathon Weekend. "The support they provide, no questions asked, is unbelievable. The Carmel Marathon room at the House is awesome and we have received letters from families staying in the room. Our 2014 marathon winner, Jesse Davis, was on hand at the dedication and disclosed that he stayed at RMH during his brother's illness. We are excited to continue the partnership and know that families staying at the House will be watching to see if Jesse can win his 5th consecutive Carmel Marathon."

To say thank you for their generous support, we would like to provide volunteers at the race. Please help by volunteering as a Course Marshal. You can choose the locations as listed. When signing up please choose the Ronald McDonald House in the drop down box when asked if you are volunteering as a member of a group.

Volunteer Benefits Include:

The volunteer t-shirts will be available for pick-up at the Ronald McDonald House on Friday, April 17 from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Questions? Please contact Lori Pearson at [email protected].

Look Who Was Caught Rolling Out The Red Carpet

Mary Friend, Volunteer Resources Manager, caught Dale and Diana Roberts demonstrating cooperation, communication and teamwork.

Mary wrote; "When Guest Services Volunteers, Dale and Diana Roberts learned that the person who usually picks up and delivers the weekly Panera donation to our Riley location had a conflict, they jumped in and offered to take on that task that week. Thanks to Dale and Diana, our families were able to enjoy Panera bagels and other baked goods that week."

Thank you Dale and Diana!
