When Amy* entered the Mentoring Program she and her Mentor hit the ground running!

Their first meeting was a lunch that lasted two hours. They discussed her past and current situation and immediately began to set short-term and long-term goals. Financial stability was number one on her list with reliable transportation close behind.

Amy received bus passes to get to and from work while she and her mentor looked at possible housing options. They were able to find an apartment that is within walking distance of her job and in a safer neighborhood. She was also able to use her tax refund toward buying a more reliable car.

She continues to meet with her mentor and is excited about the future, "I'm doing well. Meeting with my mentor on Sunday and learning how to budget!! We are taking it day by day ... and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for all the support."

Financial Coaching is wrapping up its third year of empowering individuals and families with the knowledge to regain control of their finances.

This program year we have surpassed our goals and have already provided financial coaching and education to over 600 Tarrant County residents. More than half of those who attended regular coaching sessions were able to improve their financial behaviors by reducing their debt, increasing their savings or paying their bills on time.

This year, we had 20 active volunteer financial coaches who contributed 262 volunteer hours.
Thank you, coaches, for helping Tarrant County families realize financial stability!
