Election Day in New York City

null

Today's primary elections in New York City will determine whether the nation's most populous city moves one step closer to electing its first female mayor. Out of twelve primary candidates (Republicans and Democrats), only one - Christine Quinn - is a woman. If elected, Quinn would join the 217 women - 17.4% - who serve as mayors of the 1,248 U.S. cities with populations over 30,000.

55 Days and Counting

null ...until New Jersey's gubernatorial election. This November, New Jersey will be one of only two states with a gubernatorial race, and the only one with a woman running. In fact, New Jersey will have three women on this fall's gubernatorial ballot - one for Governor (Democratic State Senator Barbara Buono) and two for Lieutenant Governor (Republican Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno and Democratic union activist Milly Silva). The Eagleton Institute's Center on the American Governor has put together the background you need on New Jersey's gubernatorial race. And, remember, CAWP will be tracking the latest election news for women in 2013 and 2014 races on our Election Watch pages.
