Building Futures Awards Trophy's.
 
The Building Futures Partnership has held a biennial awards scheme since 2009 which celebrates new developments that demonstrate innovation, creativity and design excellence. This year's awards ceremony will take place on 21 November 2013 at the Spirella Ballroom in Letchworth Garden City, which itself is a national architectural icon and an example of Hertfordshire's inspiring design heritage. Aqua Dynamics was called upon by artist Anne Tilby in 2009 to design and produce these wonderful trophy's for the event that were cut into the face of vintage spades. The curvature of the spade's face meant that we needed to create a 3d program that would follow the contours not only in the X and Y axis but also in Z whilst applying the correct tilt throughout the cutting process. Building Futures were so happy with the 2009 trophy's that we have been called upon by Anne once again to produce a similar design for this years awards. Supporting the Engineers of Tomorrow. 
 
At the beginning of 2013 Aqua Dynamics where asked to help Redbourne School's  Racing Team in there bid for the championship title at the Bedfordshire Schools Autodrome Grand Prix at Thurleigh. An idea originally conceived by the late Mayor of Bedford, Frank Branston and Bedford Autodrome's Chief Executive Jonathan Palmer. The Bedford Autodromes School's Grand Prix is now in its fourth year where schools local to Bedford design, build and race small electrically powered cars. Whilst being a huge amount of fun the scheme aims to educate the students not only in a number of aspects of the school curriculum but also in new engineering and manufacturing processes. The WaterJet was used to cut the important Aluminium Gears where the tilting head of the Omax machine comes into it's own, providing perfectly square edges essential to working components like these. Aqua Dynamics were delighted to help produce a championship car whilst educating the next generation of engineer's in the WaterJet Cutting process!
