The Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF) will be headlined by LINKIN PARK on August 3rd on famed Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. The Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum California rock band and SSMF are partnering to create a unique festival experience that will let attendees "rock for a cause" with a significant portion of ticket sales to benefit Music For Relief, the nonprofit organization LINKIN PARK founded to support disaster relief, provide aid to survivors of natural disasters and support the prevention of such disasters via environmental programs. For more information, click here.

A native of Los Angeles, Sammy Miller has become known for his unique maturity and relentless focus on making music that "feels good" as a drummer, singer and bandleader. Sammy has performed with Wynton Marsalis, Bobby Watson, David Benoit, Christian Scott, and Ozomatli at venues across the country, including the White House, the Kennedy Center, the Monterey Jazz Festival, and the Hollywood Bowl. The City of West Hollywood  presents the photographic exhibition Rock 'n' Roll Billboards of the Sunset Strip by photographer Robert Landau at the West Hollywood Library. The artist's talk on August 10 will explore the history behind the billboards from an era when rock was the most important music ever recorded; when youth, politics, and art merged to turn counterculture into mainstream culture. This exhibit is on display to coincide with the Sunset Strip Music Festival on August 3, 2013. Exhibit will be on view during regular library hours through mid October during regular library hours. Free.

Opera Talk: The Mad Men and Women of Opera

Join us as opera expert Louis Berstein discusses and shows excerpts from some of the best mad scenes in opera, including those of Ophelia in Ambroise, Thosas's Hamlet, as well as the mad characters in Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor and Benamin Britten's Peter Gribes. The closing bash for this years Summer Sounds concerts, Louie Cruz Beltran is a popular entertainer, bandleader, vocalists, and master percussionist who has appeared at top venues and festivals, including the 34th Annual Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl, the Oakland Jazz Festival, Catalina's Jazz Club, and Herb Alpert's Vibrato. His CD "Paint The Rythm" charted nationally, and continues to get airplay internationally. Free two hour parking available in the 5 story West Hollywood Park Parking Garage. ONE National Gay and Lesbian Archives Seeking Submissions for Film Festival

ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives is seeking submissions of short films and videos for inclusion in the 4th annual ONE Queer Film Fest. The program will celebrate the rich history and culture of the LGBTQ community with a special focus on showcasing works by contemporary filmmakers alongside historical films and footage from the archives.We welcome submissions of short films and videos up to approximately 15 minutes in length on a wide range of topics pertaining to the LGBTQ experience. Submissions should be accompanied by a short explanation of the work. Please send all submissions to Tom De Simone at [email protected] by Friday, August 16, 2013.
