World AIDS Day Event: The Criminalization of HIV, FREECity Logo

The City will sponsor The Williams Institutes' panel discussion, The Criminalization of HIV. Currently, 33 states including California have criminal statutes that make it illegal to expose another person to HIV. How do these laws criminalize people living with HIV/AIDS? Is it possible to reduce HIV transmission without stigmatizing those who have the virus? For more information, click here.

From Red State to Golden State Film Screening, FREE

The City of West Hollywood in collaboration with The Wende Museum presents a preview screening of the documentary From Red State to Golden State: Soviet Jewish Immigration to the City of Angels, An Oral History.  The documentary follows several Jewish families who left the former Soviet Union to settle in Los Angeles during the 1970s and 1980s. Justin Jampol will act as moderator at the talk directly following the screening.

(1927-?), a dissident editor from the former USSR.  

 

20/20 - Visioning the Past/Future of HIV/AIDS

A Community Forum looking at the Past, Present, & Future of HIV/AIDS prevention and care, featuring a panel of older and younger HIV activist/educators learning from each other. The "20/20 Community Forum" will be an important and innovative gathering that will provide youth with access to resources, help close generational gaps, and continue to provide innovative programming. WHAP! Screening: " Phantom Geographies: Superimpositions of Memory and Place", FREE

WHAP! will be screening of CalArts alumna Yelena Zhelezov's essay film, "Signs of Arrival," followed by a roundtable discussion with scholars and artists about parallel worlds and the immigrant experience. 2nd Annual Merry Musical Minstral Circus: A Holiday Gathering & Jamathon

Jonathan Wilson and Mike Campbell will host the second annual Merry Minstrel Musical Circus. Performers will be announced over the coming weeks and all proceeds from the concert go to benefit Manual Arts High School and Tazzy Animal Rescue Fund. Puppet Theatre on Wheels: Holiday Show, FREE

Come out and enjoy a special holiday show by Puppet Theatre on Wheels which presented October's Early Russian Fairy Tales Show. This show, which will tell stories of The Snow Queen, the Russian New Year Celebration, and Grand Father Frost and Snegurochka, will be presented in Russian with an English translated synopsis available.
