Unemployment: Older workers waiting for the revolution

headset-man.jpg A February report from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce on the national labour market says people 55 and older are getting work and their participation rate has soared, nearly doubling since 1994. But the jobs are often lower-wage part-time work.

 
Workforce Planning Hamilton completed research on older workers in October 2013 and released a report called Listening to the Voices of Experienced Workers in Hamilton: Workforce Barriers and Solutions.  
 
Manpower Employment Outlook Survey for Q2 2014 shows 16% of Canadian employers are planning to hire
 
Manpower recently released their Q2 2014 Employment Outlook Survey. Over 1900 employers across Canada shared their hiring plans. In Ontario, hiring plans have increased in public administration; education; and finance, insurance, and real estate. Payrolls are expected to increase by 17% in Hamilton.
