2013 Christmas Cards 

 

Get an early start on Christmas by ordering your holiday cards from the Presbyterian Home for Children - and make a donation to this worthwhile cause at the same time.

 

Orders will be taken through August 12 and the cards will be delivered in September. All proceeds from the card sales will be used to support the Fine Arts programs of the Presbyterian Home. Cost is $14 per package (10 cards in each package).  Or you may order online.

  

 

Bama Days / UKIRK Ministries - August 26 - 27, 2013 - Bama Days is a wonderful time for home church leaders to connect with students in their new campus ministry setting! "South Highland Church will be hosting the bi-annual meetings of the Board of Directors of the Outreach Foundation, an approved mission sending arm of the PCUSA, Sept. 22-24, 2013.  As part of the board gathering, South Highland is hosting a dinner on Sunday evening, September 22, at 6:00 pm for any and all in the Presbytery who would like to learn more about the work of the Outreach Foundation.  If you would like to RSVP for this dinner, please let Dina Glass know either by email or phone -  dglass@southhighland.org or 205-933-0790, ext. 121.  Many of our Presbytery churches assist in sponsoring the world wide mission work of the Outreach Foundation, in places ranging from Zimbabwe and Mozambique to Brazil and India.  Board members and staff members will gather in Birmingham from across the United States, and are available to fill pulpits for congregations so desiring on Sept. 22.  Already IPC, Shades Valley, Second, Gardendale and SHPC have requested an Outreach Staff Member or Board Member to preach or lead a Sunday School Class.  If your congregation would be so interested please contact Dr. Ed Hurley at South Highland, ehurley@southhighland.org,  205-933-0790."

Mission Notes 

 

On July 17, Southminster  had its annual Bingo for the Congo pot luck supper and bingo games.  A lot of great prizes were donated and there was a picture bingo for the youngest children.  Good food and good fun for our Presbytery's mission work!  We would be eager to know what some others are doing to support our Congo Partnership. Please let us know what your church is doing to support the Congo Partnership!

Their mission is to work with homeless women and their children to create hospitality in a safe and nurturing community, to encourage them to find hope, to seek opportunity, and to grow spiritually, thereby achieving their full potential.
