Mary Margaret Cameo Appearance at 14th & U Street Market -- this Saturday!

 Many of you at the 14th & U Farmers Market have been asking "Where is Mary Margaret?" Mary Margaret has been "market hopping" so far this season, with a little bit of time at the Palisades market and the Vienna market. But she will be making a Cameo Appearance on Saturday (May 23rd) at the 14th & U Farmers Market.
Stop in and say hello; she'll be happy to see you!

Rhubarb Special
|
 We have been picking Rhubarb by the buckets this spring. They are big lush plants and we are harvesting beautiful stalks from them. Last week we started a Rhubarb Special: 3 pound bag for $10 and we'll continue the special this weekend too. At $3.30 a pound (regularly priced $4.75 a pound), that's a mega deal!
 We'll have the rhubarb pre-bagged, so it's easy for you to grab-n-go, but if you'd like to pick out your own 3 pounds or more, we'll honor the discounted price as well.
This is a great opportunity to stock up the freezer so you can continue enjoying Rhubarb in the off-season!

We are Excited for
STRAWBERRIES!!
|
Normally we don't make a big to-do about produce until we are harvesting enough for all of our markets, but we want you to start getting excited for our Strawberries too.
This year we have planted a new variety called
Flavor Fest. Flavor Fest was developed by the USDA Beltsville Research Center in Maryland. It is ideal for growing in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Most other strawberry varieties grow best in Florida, California or the Carolinas. So, it's pretty unique to have a variety that will thrive in Pennsylvania in our growing conditions.
And Flavor Fest describes them perfectly! These strawberries have the most amazing flavor....the way a strawberry should taste! Their shape is a little different: instead of the traditional conical shape, Flavor Fest strawberries tend to be a little fatter and shorter, with some ribs along the sides.
The majority of our Strawberry crop will be Flavor Fest this year, plus we'll have some
Chandler and of course, we'll have our
Everbearing Strawberries in the fall.
So get excited!!
