Memorial Day is approaching fast and that means Decoration Day in Westlake! Each year our historical preservation society hosts this memorable, old-fashioned evening and many neighbors, especially those in Stagecoach Hills, have helped support Decoration Day by providing delicious entries for the homemade ice cream contest. (Big Red ice cream anyone?) We hope this year that we will have many more entries in the contest - coming up soon on Monday, May 25 - especially from those neighbors new to the Westlake community!
This annual event is always a family favorite, and a very moving one for our community, as we gather together to honor all soldiers and families that have sacrificed so much for our freedom. We especially hope to see our Westlake veterans there - and any or all from our area that are able to join us! Mark your calendars now and don't miss this year's incredible guest speaker Ret. Lieutenant General Rick Lynch, a noted author, devoted family man, and extraordinary leader. We are truly honored that he chose to spend his Memorial Day in our community! We hope you will make time to be there and welcome him to Westake!
Calling all ice cream connoisseurs- we need you! Please contact WHPS Board member Paula Thornton for more information about the Decoration Day Ice Cream Contest at 817-500-8452 or by email.
*Rain or Shine - this event is too important to cancel! In case of rain or muddy grounds, Decoration Day will be held in the Westlake Academy Multi-Purpose Hall at 2600 JT Ottinger road, just south of the cemetery.
