Knitters, crocheters donate 4,000 caps for infant abuse prevention

This year, crafters joined forces to knit and crochet nearly 4,000 purple caps for newborns. They'll be given to parents when they leave the hospital as a reminder of the Period of PURPLE Crying

There is a stage in some babies' lives of increased and often inconsolable crying. This can lead to frustration and infant abuse in times of intense stress. The Period of PURPLE Crying informs parents about this developmental stage and provides coping techniques.

Parents leaving PRH are now informed about this developmental stage of often inconsolable crying, which can occur when a baby is between two weeks and six months of age.
GET YOUR LOCAL HOSPITAL TO JOIN IN!
We have a goal to recruit one more hospital before the end of the year! The lucky hospital will get 18 months of FREE Period of PURPLE Crying education materials for their new parents! See if they're participating here.
If they're not, contact them! Express your concern for local parents and infants. Then, contact Maria Doyle to find out more!
We would be remiss not to thank our Administrative Assistant, Christina Manter's, mother, Jenn Manter, and grandmother, Thelma Manter, for laundering and packaging all of our donated infant hats. Now, new parents can be rest assured their hat was packaged immediately after washing! Learn more about the journey of donated hats, here.
