Worship this week - December 29th at 10:00am

Dr. McIvor's sermon is "The Serious Side of Christmas" based on Matthew 2.13-23. Christmas without children would not be Christmas as we've come to expect it. For the Christmas story is a child's story and it makes sense to children in ways that, as adults, we sometimes miss. However, there is a part of the Christmas story in the Bible that we often don't read. It's about a king who was so afraid of a baby being born in Bethlehem the he ordered his soldiers to slaughter all the children around Bethlehem. That today children still suffer at the hands of political and military powers is the serious side of Christmas that we should not ignore.

Beautiful Poinsettias
Thank you to all the members and friends who helped us beautify our Sanctuary for Christmas. If you haven't taken your poinsettia home, you may this Sunday, December 29th. The remaining poinsettias will be taken to the residents at Wingate.

Year End Contributions
The church closes its books on December 31st of each year and it is important that all contributions for 2013 be at the church by noon on Tuesday, December 31st. Please note that the last Sunday before year end is December 29th. Donations received on Sunday, January 5, 2014, regardless of the date written on checks, will be booked as 2014 contributions.
Compassionate Knitting
Discover the joy of knitting for others. Beginning January 14th, all junior high and high school students (and their friends) are invited to participate in this new youth ministry project as well as knitters of all ages. Beginners are welcome - we'll provide yarn, needles, and instructions! (Just let Rose DeBoer know so she can plan accordingly.) Or just join us if you are working on your own project. The group will meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm. For questions and to RSVP, contact Rose DeBoerLearn more.
Winter Weather Reminder: If severe weather requires a service or event to be canceled, every effort will be made to notify church members. Information can be found on the church's website, at WBZ (look under "school closings"), and on our telephone's recorded message (978-443-9151). Remember to use good judgment and don't venture out if conditions feel unsafe.
