WE CAN HELP YOU PROMOTE YOUR SENIORS PROGRAMMING

The Edmonton Seniors Coordinating Council is accepting submissions for the Recreation and Wellness Directory for Older Adults. If your organization offers programs, activities and events for adults 55+ in the Edmonton area, we want to know about them!

There is no charge to include your information in this annual publication. More than 7500 copies are distributed each year so your organization will get lots of exposure.

Review last year's edition of the directory to get an idea of the types of activities included and contact us to get a submission form. Contact Janelle at [email protected] or 780-423-5635. The deadline for submissions is June 26, 2015.

NEW HORIZONS FOR SENIORS PROGRAM

This year's New Horizons for Seniors Program has two funding streams and organizations can apply for either. The deadline for both is July 10, 2015.

Pan-Canadian Projects
The Call for Proposals for Pan-Canadian Projects invites organizations to apply for funding for projects that will help to reduce social isolation among seniors by using collaborative approaches that place an emphasis on measurable results. The Government of Canada is partnering with the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation and its Innoweave initiative to support the development, implementation and scaling of these collaborative approaches to reduce social isolation among seniors. Applicants can contact Innoweave through its Seniors SI program to obtain support and to learn more about how organizations can work together to address social isolation. Successful projects will focus exclusively on addressing social isolation among seniors and will be funded between $150,000 and $750,000, over a period of up to three years.

Community-Based Projects
Community-based projects that enable seniors to share their knowledge, skills and experiences with others, and help communities increase their capacity to address local issues, are eligible to receive up to $25,000 per year, per organization. Projects must address one or more of the program's five objectives: promoting volunteerism among seniors and other generations; engaging seniors in the community through the mentoring of others; expanding awareness of elder abuse, including financial abuse; supporting the social participation and inclusion of seniors; and providing capital assistance for new and existing community projects and/or programs for seniors.
