Presbyterian Disaster Assistance
|
The Outreach Committee at UPC is sending money to help the people in Nepal who have been so severely affected by the earthquakes. Though we act collectively through this donation, we know that there are many others who would like to send additional monies, and we encourage you to send funds through the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance group.
The Presbyterian Disaster Assistance group reminds us that God's people are called to stand in the GAP-Give, Act, Pray. Click here for more information.

Meal Service for UPC Families
|
Bringing home a newborn is an exciting time, but it also comes with anxiety and exhaustion. In those early months, having a meal delivered is a real gift. We would like to provide that for UPC families. We are compiling a list of members who would like to take a meal to families with newborns.
If you'd like to participate, please email Lou Pons at or call her at (919) 967-1809. You'll be contacted as needed to choose dates that work for you.

The Congregational Life Committee is looking for volunteers to help with Punch on the Porch this summer, from the first Sunday of June through the last Sunday of September. Volunteers are needed after the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship services. All supplies will be provided. If you're able to help, please click here to sign up online. Thank you for your service to the church!

The Psalms: Then and Now
Adult Education Summer Class
|
Sundays in June (9:45 - 10:45 a.m.) in Vance Barron Hall
Please join us for The Psalms: Then and Now, a summer adult education class led by Vince Tollers. The class will be held in Vance Barron Hall during the Sunday School hour (9:45 - 10:45 a.m.) on Sundays in June. The focus of the class will be on the history and composition of the Psalms, their application to Jesus by the early church and their use in ancient and modern liturgy and music.
Vince Tollers is retired from the Department of English at the State University of New York at Brockport where he taught the Bible as Literature. His books include The Bible in its Literary Milieu and Mappings of the Biblical Terrain: The Bible as Text (both co-edited with John Maier). As an elder in the Third Presbyterian Church, Rochester, NY, Vince presented or chaired numerous programs for Christian Education and Outreach. We're so pleased to have him with us for this very special adult education offering!

Montreat Worship and Music Family Meeting
May 31 at 9:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall
|
The singers attending this year's Montreat Worship and Music Conference (June 21 - 27, 2015) will meet next Sunday, May 31, in the Fellowship Hall. The final payment for the conference is due ($225), and checks should be made payable to "UPC." All trip forms should be completed by May 31.
Singers will meet their house leaders, and carpools to and from Montreat can be arranged. We do not rent vans to transport singers since so many leaders are driving up in their own vehicles for the week. Bring your questions and double check your Montreat schedules! Countdown to Montreat!
For more information about Montreat Worship and Music contact Beth Auman Visser.
