Research Council Grants Deadline is May 8

Rutgers' Research Council supports studies in all fields of learning at Rutgers with potential for significant outside funding and publication, as well as creative work in the arts, every year through numerous small grants to faculty members. The average award last year was about $1,400, but applicants may request up to $5,000. May 8 is the deadline. The application form, instructions and more information are posted here.

Training Begins on RAPSS; Mandatory Use for All New NIH Proposals Begins with Proposals Due June 5
Training on the new Research Administration and Proposal Submission System (RAPSS) begins next week. Sessions will be conducted on all three campuses through April 28. Initially, RAPSS will be limited to submission of new grant proposals to the National Institutes of Health, starting April 29. All faculty members who plan to submit a new proposal to NIH must use RAPSS and should notify their grant specialist immediately. Faculty members planning to use RAPSS should attend a training session at least two weeks before the proposal due date. Read more
here.

RAPSS training will be led by Rosie Mendoza McCamery, who recently joined the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs as its first education training specialist. Her primary focus initially will be on the RAPSS implementation, but she will be responsible for a variety of training programs for grant submission and associated work. Read more
here.
Workshops on HathiTrust at Alexander Library

Members of the Rutgers community are cordially invited to join two hands-on workshops exploring the resources of HathiTrust on April 24 in Alexander Library. The Committee on Institutional Cooperation is a founding partner of the digital library, which has more than 13 million works from around the world. The first workshop, "Exploring the HathiTrust Digital Library," will cover using the search functionality (catalog and full-text), downloading PDFs and creating public and private collections. The second, "Getting Started with the HathiTrust Research Center," will focus on the center's textual analysis tools. Read more here.

The First Annual Rutgers iJOBS Symposium

The Rutgers units that conduct the iJOBS Program will be hosting their first annual symposium to bring together an extended team, trainees and program supporters to network with regional experts and learn about the successful pursuit of biomedical and life sciences careers. The program will start with a presentation by Abraham Abuchowski, Rutgers alumnus and founder of Enzon Inc. and Prolong Pharmaceuticals Inc. Register for the event and reserve a spot for lunch at the iJOBS Symposium website . The April 20 symposium marks the start of BioNJ's Life Sciences Industry Week.

Facilities & Equipment Guide: You Can Update Your Entry Online, or Make a New One

The Office of Research and Economic Development has created an online guide to research equipment, facilities and services to promote collaboration among both internal and external researchers. This continually updated directory is intended to raise awareness of research capabilities at Rutgers, and to streamline knowledge transfer and collaboration. There's a version of the Guide for Rutgers Affiliates and a version of the Guide for Those Not Affiliated with Rutgers. If you wish to add a facility, equipment or service to the guide, log in here. If you need more information or assistance, or need to update an existing entry, please send a note to [email protected].

Finding Funding: Try COS-PIVOT

Whether you're a faculty member, a grad student or a research staffer, the search for sponsor information is the first step toward external funding success. All Rutgers faculty, staff and students have free subscriptions to COS-PIVOT, a powerful search engine for finding funding opportunities and scholar profiles from within Rutgers and outside of the university.

Grants and Gifts
Each week in the Rutgers Faculty & Staff Bulletin we run a small sample of the many grants awarded to Rutgers researchers. The archive is here.
