Income Generation Financial Workshop

Participants learn how to manage their money by preparing a personal spending plan and identifying ways to decrease spending and increase income.

 

Finding the extra fifty, thirty or even twenty dollars in your budget can be trying, especially after you have created a very tight budget. What do you do? Find a part time job? Maybe seek a higher paying job?  

 

Often time, when faced with financial difficulties, we overlook creative ways to increase our income. Do you have a skill, hobby or talent that can bring extra dollars into your home? Learn more about public resources available to you that can help in the short term.

Ghosts of Amistad - Film

This documentary by Tony Buba is based on Marcus Rediker's
The Amistad Rebellion: An Atlantic Odyssey of Slavery and Freedom(Viking-Penguin, 2012).  It chronicles a trip to Sierra Leone in 2013 to visit the home villages of the people who seized
the slave schooner Amistad in 1839,
to interview elders about local memory
of the case, and to search for the
long-lost ruins of Lomboko, the slave trading
factory where their cruel transatlantic  
voyage began.

and the New London Maritime Society.
The film runs 59 minutes, and will be
followed by a discussion.  Marcus Rediker
and Lonnie Braxton will speak.

Supper Book Club -
Suspended Sentences

The club usually meets the second Monday of the month, from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.  Book selections are chosen by members a few months ahead of the meeting date.  Each month the club chooses a local restaurant that 

fits the theme of book to order dinner.    

Menus are available at the Circulation Desk.  Beverages are provided by the library.

 

You may also bring your own supper.

Family Drumming Circle
