Dignity for All

"The world's quest for dignity, peace, prosperity, justice, sustainability and an end to poverty has reached an unprecedented moment of urgency."

"There can be no better way to celebrate the UN's birth than by working in close partnership with civil society to build a safer, more equitable & habitable world for ourselves & those who come after us."

  - Statements by the

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon

Participating Organization Spotlight:

For PDP 2014, we were thrilled that IOT presented Elegy to the Lost Children of Theresienstadt
- a production which involved children 6-18 in the recreation of the last performance of an opera by youth in a concentration camp. This camp held 15,000 children - only 150 of these children ever returned home.
Karen Saillant, Artistic Director, of IOT, speaks of her process and deep commitment to "the preservation of the flourishing child heart. The Saillant System is based on an original self organizational theory that honors the joy of music making and the spirit of play while inspiring self confidence in decision-making and individuality in community."
In the words of a parent, the IOT process  resulted in "both of my children now fiercely believing in themselves - not only as performers, but as artists with a duty to foster tolerance and change in their audiences and their broader lives."
