Ann Hoyt and Jim Easton JOAD Grants
Awarded to Clubs   

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Archery is excited to announce 17 Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) clubs were awarded approximately $45,000 in grants through the Ann Hoyt/Jim Easton JOAD Grant program in 2013.

 

Four deserving (JOAD) clubs have been awarded funds in the last grant cycle of 2013: Anchor Point Archery, California Central Valley Archery Academy, Wilton Archery Club and Hidden Gems Archery (pictured above).

JOAD Olympians Recognized by USA Archery

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The names of Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) Olympians - archers who have earned Junior Olympic Archery Development's highest honor - have been announced by USA Archery. Olympian awards are distributed for exceptional scores shot by archers taking part in the fun and exciting national JOAD achievement award program.

 

USA Archery extends congratulations to the 35 JOAD Olympian award recipients, who have earned their awards between June 7th, 2013 - October 25th, 2013. USA Archery would also like to recognize the 10 Adult Archery Program Bronze, Silver, and Gold pin award recipients.

JOAD and Adult Scoring Matrices Get New Look and Easy to Read Layout; Adult Compound Scores

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Archery is excited to announce a new look to the Scoring Matrices for the Adult Archery and Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) Programs. Additional changes have also been made to the Adult compound scores required to earn Bronze, Silver and Gold Pins.

 

Thanks to USA Archery's Achievement Program, beginning, intermediate and advanced archers are rewarded for staying engaged in the sport of archery by setting and reaching new goals. Archers who are members of registered USA Archery JOAD and Adult Archery clubs enjoy the ability to earn achievement award pins based on the scores they shoot at different distances.

 

Athlete Spotlight: Bridger Deaton       

 

WUXI, China - Bridger Deaton (Pella, Iowa), recently competed in Wuxi, China at the 2013 World Archery Youth Championships, a biannual tournament that is the most prestigious archery event for youth archers. After competing at the 2011 Championships, where he ranked number one and returned home with a team gold medal Deaton was ready and excited to compete in his second World Archery Youth Championships.

 

Deaton spoke with USA Archery before Wuxi, and noted that he was "really looking forward to flinging some arrows! I live for competing and representing the USA, and... I'm able to do both at the same time. We have an all-star team going, not only for the junior compound, but [also] for the other seven teams. I'm really looking forward to supporting the rest of the team and seeing them compete."

Team USA Archers Claim Seven Medals at World Archery Youth Championships


WUXI, China - America's rising archery stars had a tremendous performance at the recent World Archery Youth Championships, with seven medals achieved at this biannual event.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - At the recent National Recreation and Park Association Congress, USA Archery unveiled new marketing material, including a brochure featuring content on Explore Archery, a new program coming in 2014. Click here to download the new USA Archery Brochure

 

Explore Archery is a program of USA Archery that is supported by, and developed in partnership with, the Archery Trade Association and the Easton Foundations. This exciting new initiative will assist park and recreation departments, after school programs, archery retailers and other organizations seeking to implement introductory archery programming.

for Coach of the Year!     


Whether you are just starting out in archery or you have been shooting for a long time, there has probably been a coach or instructor that has made a big impact in your archery progress.  Now is the time to think about recognizing that special person.

  

Each year USA Archery, in conjunction with the U.S. Olympic Committee, honors coaches in 5 different categories.  All nominees are considered based on accomplishments for the 2013 year and must be currently coaching athletes or within the first year of their retirement.

 
USA Archery Launches Online Event Sanctioning    


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Archery, the National Governing Body for the Olympic sport of Archery, has given club leaders good reason to cheer: the organization's event sanctioning is going to a streamlined online process designed to make submitting an event sanction request easier and more convenient.

 

USA Archery and Star FITA sanctioned tournaments - which follow World Archery and USA Archery rules, have insurance coverage through USA Archery, and allow competitors to set records - may now be submitted for sanctioning through the new online process.
