Relive The Peak of Bobby Orr's Career
This Thursday we will begin stocking the 1
969-70 NHL Season (308 cards/$32/
roster). Bobby Orr became the first (and to date, only) defenseman to lead the league in scoring. And he did so while winning the Art Ross, Conn Smythe, Hart Memorial and James Norris Memorial Trophies, and leading the Boston Bruins to a four-game sweep of the St. Louis Blues (slightly different results than the two teams' most recent game of this season).
This season also featured one of the most respectful displays by a home team's crowd in playoff history. And by respectful, I mean the Rangers fans pelted the Bruins players with eggs, nails, coins, rubber balls, apple cores, oranges, an aerosol shaving cream container, ball bearings and other debris (not to mention they set fires in the Madison Square Garden mezzanine). Not that the players (for either team) were any more graceful - this series included the most penalty-ridden game in playoff history to date. Good times.
On that positive note, head over the store and pick up the season today!
