Nominate Your Business for SBA South Florida 2014 National Small Business Week Awards
MIAMI - The U.S. Small Business Administration South Florida District is now accepting nominations for its 2014 National Small Business Week Awards, including the annual Small Business Person of the Year and Small Business Exporter award.
"There are many outstanding entrepreneurs and small business advocates within SBA South Florida's 24-county district. This annual awards program is our way of recognizing that excellence," said SBA South Florida District Director Francisco "Pancho" Marrero.
The South Florida District is seeking nominations for the following awards: Small Business Person of the Year; Small Business Exporter of the Year; Veteran Business Owner of the Year; Minority Business Owner of the Year; Woman Business Owner of the Year; Small Business Advocate of the Year; Financial Services Advocate of the Year; and Small Business Media Advocate of the Year.
Descriptions of the award categories and instructions on how to nominate a person can be found online at: http://www.sba.gov/content/2014-south-florida-district-office-small-business-week-awards-nominations-guidelines. Businesses and business persons can self-nominate themselves.
Winners of the South Florida District will advance and compete for state honors. Last year, SBA State of Florida Small Business Person of the Year was Steve Miller, President of EPreward (Boynton Beach); and Daniel Scott, Associate Director, Sustainable Entrepreneurship & Innovation Alliance at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg College of Business, was selected the State of Florida Small Business Advocate of the Year.
State of Florida Small Business Person of the Year and Small Business Exporter of the Year will advance for national honors and will be recognized during the National Small Business Week Awards Ceremony in Washington, DC during May 2014.
Since 1963, National Small Business Week has recognized the outstanding achievements of America's small businesses for their contributions to their local communities, and to our nation's economy. For over 50 years, SBA will continue its tradition in honoring the nation's 28 million small businesses.
