The P.A.W.S. Project: Pets Are Worth Supporting!
Are your girls ready to take action?
Participate in the 2014 GSMH Council-Wide Service Project: The P.A.W.S Project: Pets Are Worth Supporting. All Girl Scouts are invited to help the animal shelter of their choice by collecting dog or cat food, paper towels, or newspapers. This project runs from April 4-12, 2014 and can be completed in five simple steps.
GSMH will provide bags for Girl Scouts to distribute to friends, neighbors and community members in which to place donations. The girls will return a week later to collect the donations and donate the items to the animal shelter of their choice. Complete a P.A.W.S Project Report and submit to GSMH to receive the 2014 Council-Wide Service Project Patch.

UPDATES
Council Trip Chaperone Applications Due Soon!
We are still taking applications for chaperones and first-aiders for our 2014 and 2015 council trips for girls:
- Chicago Adventure: July 14-16, 2014
- National Convention: Salt Lake City, October 16-19, 2014
- Europe--From London to Lucerne: July 2015
Chaperones are expected to assist with the planning and preparation process for the trip, as well as ensuring that the girls have a safe and fun experience from departure to return; they share responsibility for helping to supervise the trip and its activities, and are "on call" to respond to issues or concerns during the trip. A complete description of chaperone responsibilities is available here. Costs for chaperone and first-aider travel, lodging, and most meals and activities are provided by GSMH.
Applications to chaperone any of the three trips listed above are due to Anne Hyde by January 15, 2014. Applicants may need to provide references and/or complete a brief interview. The application is available in the Forms & Resources section of our website under Volunteer Application.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Luminary Memorial Driving Tour
Wilson's Creek National Battlefield is planning for their 10th Annual Luminary Memorial Driving Tour on December 14, 2013. They are seeking over 100 volunteers to make approximately 2,500 luminaries on the mornings of December 7, and to place those luminaries on the morning of December 14. The location is 6424 W. Farm Road 182, Republic, MO at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield.
For the past nine years, 800-1600 visitors each year view the luminaries, along with the Ray House, to see how the Ray Family celebrated a typical Christmas holiday. At 4:30 p.m., a ceremony will be held to show appreciation for the many volunteers that assist with this annual event, and to honor the soldiers, on both sides, for their patriotism.
Coordinating the volunteers is Mr. Ross; he can be contacted at 417-725-7995, or by email at scedbross@earthlink.net.
