Do you have fibromyalgia or does fibromyalgia have you?

Does a loved one have fibromyalgia?

Are you having a tough time understanding and managing the illness?

Please join the Fibromyalgia Association of Michigan on Saturday, May 9, at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital’s Webber Cancer Center Auditorium. Dr. Daniel Clauw MD, Director of the Chronic Pain & Fatigue Research Center at the University of Michigan, and an internationally recognized researcher on fibromyalgia will explain what fibromyalgia is and how to manage the illness. He will also discuss the latest advances in research. Dr. Mark Lumley, PhD, a Psychologist and Director of Clinical Training at Wayne State University, will discuss the impact of stress and emotions on chronic pain & fibromyalgia.

You and your family are not alone - we can help! Since 2001 the Fibromyalgia Association of Michigan has celebrated “Michigan Fibromyalgia Awareness Day” to continue to grow fibromyalgia awareness in Michigan and help people learn how to live better with fibromyalgia. The Association formed out of the Fibromyalgia Support & Education Group at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital that was founded in 1997. Please attend and spread the word about this informative event.

Are you a healthcare provider? This conference is not for CME credit but if you would like to have a better understanding of this complex illness and learn new ways to help your patients, this event is for you.

Registration is strongly encouraged. Early Bird Registration is $10 and ends May 5. After May 5 registration is $15. Registration is non-refundable and supports this and future programs by our non-profit Association. The mission of the Fibromyalgia Association of Michigan is to improve the quality of life for people affected by fibromyalgia and related illnesses in Michigan by providing support, education and advocacy. Learn more about us at MiFibromyalgia.org and visit our national affiliate, the National Fibromyalgia & Chronic Pain Association (NFMCPA) at FMCPAware.org.

The event welcomes sponsors and exhibitors. Please contact Sharon at mfad@mifibromyalgia.org or mifibromyalgia@gmail.com or 248-885-4673 for the Sponsor/Exhibitor Guide.

Photos and video will be taken at the event for promotional and educational purposes only.
