Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to New Haven Ballet's 28th year as the city's preeminent ballet and dance school!

I am thrilled and honored to have an opportunity to continue NHB's legacy of excellent training and programming as Interim Artistic Director. We are off to a tremendous start, with strong student registration, and I wish to extend a warm welcome to all returning and new dancers.

I am dedicated to continuing and strengthening NHB's tradition of offering excellence in dance training. NHB boasts an impressive roster of full-time and guest faculty, all of whom are devoted to instructing students in an environment where they can flourish and reach their full potential.

We also have expanded class offerings at all locations, in all divisions (children, student, and adult open), and hope you will consider joining us for one of our new offerings. Please check our website for more details.

Finally, we are thrilled to present The Nutcracker once again at the historic Shubert Theater in downtown New Haven. Continuing a NHB family tradition of more than 15 years, this year's Nutcracker promises to be as breathtaking as ever, with some exciting additions that I look forward to sharing with you. Nutcracker auditions for students will be held on September 21-22, 2013.

If we have not yet met, please feel free to stop by the office. I plan to visit all locations over the next couple of weeks and look forward to meeting each of you.

Eligibility:

All students currently enrolled at New Haven Ballet in Creative Ballet 2 and above may audition for The Nutcracker. Registration forms and the $125 audition fee are due September 19th.

Live Orchestra:

We are hoping to have a live professional orchestra this year! Fundraising has begun and we are especially excited about the upcoming giveGreater (R) campaign sponsored by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. If NHB obtains the greatest number of donor participants through the giveGreater (R) website starting the morning of October 2, 2013, NHB could win $15,000!

Please mark your calendars and go online the morning of October 2nd to help us provide the best possible dance experience for our students...The Nutcracker with live orchestra! We will send more information as the date approaches.

Student Matinee:

The student matinee is an abbreviated performance for New Haven public and private schools. NHB is already signing up schools to attend the performance on Friday, December 13, 2013 from 10:00-11:15 a.m. at the Shubert Theater. This performance is especially enjoyable for young audiences. The curtain remains open during intermission so they may see first hand how the stage is transformed for Act II.
