First Quarter in the Books
It's hard to believe that the first quarter is in the books, leaving us dizzy preparing for the quickly-approaching holiday season. With recent events at Gilles-Sweet Elementary School, October proved to be a particularly unusual month, but it also showcased the extraordinary efforts of our staff, students and community who worked together to keep our students calm, safe and secure.

We are eager to begin another successful quarter, so please take some time to read about the top-5 things you need to know in this month's edition of the Fairview Fast Five!

1. PSAT Testing hits all-time high

We are proud to announce that 75 Fairview High School students recently took the PSAT - a College Board Exam that is used to determine National Merit Scholarships. This was the largest group to ever take the exam, which will work to better-prepare these students for the the college application process.

2. Fall Sports Wrap-Up

Our fall athletes are coming off one of the most successful fall sports seasons in Fairview Park City Schools history. Check out fairviewparkschools.org over the next few weeks for a detailed Fall Sports wrap-up, which will highlight team achievements. Until then, best of luck to our Warriors!

3. Kindergarten Career Days
The annual Career Days for Kindergarten took place at the EEC in October. Community members visited classrooms to share their career experiences. The visits offered a creative experience for our children to learn more about the community in which they live. A special thank you to all who helped make this experience so much fun for our kids! 4. Check our Calendar for upcoming Events

5. FPCS Applies for ODE Straight A Funding

In late October, Fairview Park City Schools submitted a 6-page grant application with the intent of securing funding recently made available through Ohio's new $250 million Straight A Fund. If granted, the funding will work to enhance professional development opportunities in an effort to provide more focused and data-driven instruction to students. We'll keep you posted on updates.
