Building Age-Friendly Communities: The Summit

Summit Success
Thank you to the nearly 400 participants who gathered at the Westin Waltham on Wednesday, March 18th to discuss what it will take to build age-friendly communities and how to mobilize coalitions in this work.

A special thanks to our partner The Boston Foundation, esteemed moderator Ina Jaffe and all the presenters who shared their knowledge, experience and insights to make the discussion on building age-friendly communities robust. For those who were unable to join us, we are pleased to share our Highlights video and some additional resources.

New Resources Now Available
We took the opportunity to release updates to the Massachusetts Healthy Aging Data Report: Community Profiles 2015, a resource to help those working in communities better understand the risks facing older adults. This new report includes 39 new indicators of health and in-depth, sophisticated data analyses about the health of older citizens in each of the 351 cities and towns of Massachusetts and Boston's 16 neighborhoods. If you haven't already explored the report, you can access it now.
  •  The 2015 Highlights Report summarizes new health risk indicators, explores racial disparities and includes a new composite measure used to identify those communities that are most and least healthy.
  • Community Profiles 2015 detail indicators for individual towns alongside state averages for 121 health risks to help communities compare how they are doing relative to the rest of the state.
