Aeroponics Program at Joseph S. Clark

In a small, triangular space behind a chain-link fence at Joseph S. Clark Preparatory High School where there was once only weeds, five aeroponic gardening towers are teeming with life. Clark's Seed-to-Table class seeded the towers early this fall, and participate in weekly science-based lessons on seasonal growing and cooking. Clark students are now seeing the results, with towers of lettuce and herbs, which make for good cooking and eating!

Goats Galore

ESYNOLA Receives USDA Stamp of Approval
Edible Schoolyard New Orleans is one of 71 projects across 42 states and the District of Columbia to receive support in 2014 and 2015, through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's "Farm to School" program. The USDA's funding helps connect school cafeterias and students with local farmers and ranchers.

ESYNOLA will use Farm to School funds to expand our student education and family supported agriculture programs, and to continue our work with Tulane University's Schools of Medicine and Public Health to evaluate the impact of Edible Schoolyard's 3,000 daytime and afterschool gardening and cooking classes and special events on the daily habits of students and parents, who are among the nation's most vulnerable to malnutrition and chronic disease.

We would like to give a hearty
to all our interns & volunteers!
Thank you so much for your commitment and service!

At Iron Chef a few weeks ago, a woman watched her 5th grade daughter fillet a fish. She said,

"This program gives kids all kinds of different opportunities. My daughter has really been enjoying her new cooking skills, so this year, I'm graduating her to Season Chopper for the holidays!"

Two fifth-graders and Juan's Flying Burrito serve judges a bacon & shrimp taco with satsuma slaw, black beans and coconut rice at Arthur Ashe's first Iron Chef competition.
The secret ingredient was satsuma.

Your gifts
create these opportunities.
THANK YOU
for including ESYNOLA
in your year-end charitable giving!
