Euchre Tournament - There will be a Euchre Tournament to benefit the community projects of the Wayne Rotary Club and the Wayne-Westland Parks and Recreation on Saturday, October 5 at the Wayne Community Center located at 4635 Howe Rd. Check-in begins at 6:00 p.m. and the games start at 7:00 p.m. The cost is $20 and Euchre players should pre-register to [email protected]. Players must be 21 years or older and there will be prizes awarded for the top 5 highest point totals. There will be pizza, pop and beer for sale throughout the night and a 50/50 raffle.
Fire Prevention Week - The Westland Fire Department is reminding everyone that October is National Fire Prevention Month. Westland's Fire Prevention Week is Sunday, October 6 - Saturday, October 12. This week was established to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. You can visit www.fpw.org for more information on fire safety.

New City Hall Groundbreaking - City dignitaries, department heads and members of the Westland City Council are inviting residents, the press and business leaders to join them in a Groundbreaking Ceremony to inaugurate the transformation of Westland's new City Hall building. With shovels and sledgehammers in hand, they will gather at the former City Circuit building on Warren Road on Monday, October 7 at 11:00 a.m. to kick off a momentous occasion in the City's history. The Groundbreaking Ceremony on the new City Hall property will include short presentations, followed by tours of the site.
Family Hoedown - Bring the family for some square dancing, cider & donuts, hay rides and much more on Tuesday, October 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Atwood Park. Tickets can be purchased at the Wayne-Westland Community Center located at 4635 Howe Road. The cost is $6 per person for residents and $7 per person for non-residents. Columbus Day Holiday alters City Office Hours - City Offices, including the 18th District Court, will be closed on Monday, October 14 due to Columbus Day. Offices will re-open at their regular time on Tuesday, October 15.
Westland Farmer's Market Held Every Thursday - The Westland Farmer's Market will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. every Thursday in the City Hall Parking Lot, located at 36601 Ford Road. This is the ultimate site for farmers, growers and producers to sell their own products directly to the public. Residents now have the opportunity to catch a FREE ride to the market at the following locations and times. *All times are approximate and dependent on weather, traffic, available space, etc.
