The label "Republican" fits if you agree with the Platform of the 2012 National Republican Party. Haven't read it? If not, you are not alone. Most people, including most of the leaders of the Party, have no idea what principals, specific programs and remedies the Party actually promotes.
The Platform is easily read on our newly launched website. Please visit ECRP.GOP. You'll find the Platform under the tab "Documents." It's a long document. Enjoy just a section at a time. There's a table of contents that makes it easy to find the subject that interests you. You'll be surprised that it reads like a conservative manifesto!
The leaders of our Party haven't abided by their own Platform. We intend to change that.
If you would like to be a part of the recently restructured and energized Emmet County Republican Party, join us April 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the Northern Lights Recreation Center at 8865 Harbor-Petoskey Road (M-119), Harbor Springs.
Our speaker will be Bill McMaster. Mr. McMaster was instrumental in getting the Headlee Amendment passed in Michigan. He now knows the ins and outs of the May 5th Ballot Proposal that is asking for a sales tax increase. We passed a resolution opposing this increase. You can read the Resolution on ECRP.GOP's home page. At the meeting, there will be a brief presentation on the Platform section that applies to taxes.
Also, you will have the opportunity to sign up for membership in any of our eight Standing Committees: Elections, Events, Finance, Issues, Youth, Publicity, Outreach and Technology. Each Committee has an Executive Committee Liaison and a Chairman. Most of the Committees have been meeting and planning for 2016. Find one that matches your talents and interests and together we WILL make a difference in this next Presidential election!
You are now able to donate to the Emmet County Party on our website or you can give a check or cash to our Treasurer, Greg Somers, at the sign in table at our General Meetings. The annual dues structure is $35/Adult, $50/Couple and $10/Youth Membership. All of your dues will stay in Emmet County to benefit the education and activities of local Republicans. We sincerely appreciate whatever support you can give: financial, prayerful and/or time and talent.
Looking ahead, on May 4th, we will be showing the insightful movie, "Agenda: The Grinding Down of America." Join us for an in depth look at the organizations that have been working patiently for a very long time, to destroy America. Will we allow them to succeed? To defeat the enemy within, we must first understand the enemy.
I look forward to meeting with new members, those who are curious about what we're doing and longtime supporters and members. Some say that the Emmet County Republican Party is the "rising star" of the Michigan Republican Party. Come and see for yourself!
Nancy Sarowski,
Chairman
