VT Seva will be entering into 5th year soon. It has become a role model by supporting various service pillars - Empowerment of Visually Challenged using latest technology, Transforming the lives of tribal communities by providing quality education, Cancer prevention & screening and Environmental Protection. VT Seva has also supported healthcare needs of underprivileged patients by providing required financial assistance for the treatment.

 

All the team members of VT Seva are doing their part in taking the organization forward and it is making a steady progress in serving the society. All the branches are motivating local volunteer teams and philanthropists by organizing walk-a-thons, awareness activities, cultural programs and health seminars, all aimed towards benefiting the underprivileged and local communities.

 

Youth is actively participating in all these programs and it adds a great meaning to the final result. We have observed that some branches are setting a good trend by not only accomplishing the objectives of their projects but also by exceeding them. For instance, Vasantham event in Parsipanny, NJ initiated by Smt. Anjani, started with a goal of supporting the education of Netra Degree College only, but ended up with supporting most of the students from Netra Junior College too.  We have observed similar results through Utsav in Seattle and Tarangini in Dallas. This shows how volunteers are dedicated to the causes and committed to the results with good support from all the team members and local people. We need to consolidate all these individual efforts and results to effectively present as overall accomplishments of the organization.

 

This is right time to set goals for ourselves as an organization and stride towards the targets. We should make the existing branches stronger and also plan to add two to three branches in every state in the upcoming year.  This will enable us in doing more activities by building new volunteer teams. Any activity we do should not be a firefighting activity. Consistency is very important. Planning annual events well ahead is a good practice to follow. While conducting an activity, we should engage one and all. Communication is the key. Everyone should know about it. So, reach out to all.

 

Our volunteers are really dedicated and hardworking. All the teams are doing yeomen services. However, there is a scope for improvement in presentation skills. With proper presentation, we can engage more like minded people to make a bigger impact on the society through service.

Seattle team is organizing Utsav (2nd annual event) to celebrate success of the blind on October 26th. Utsav 2012 was a huge success. The event raised funds to support the education of 100% of the students of Netra Vidyalaya at Vizag.

Tampa team has taken up a volunteer project at Hillsborough River State Park for September 28th, dealing with exotic invasive plant removal by hand (Environmental Protection).

Vizianagaram has conducted a free cancer awareness medical camp in Konda Kerakam village in Vizianagaram mandal on September 3rd at 3 PM. About 160 Women of the village have attended and underwent different medical tests. Dr Sudhakumari (Women and child) of P V R Hospitals has conducted a number of required tests pertaining to chest and uterus problems.

The JIMS charitable hospital in Hyderabad has performed it's first laproscopic hernia. The 80 bed state-of-the-art hospital offers a unique combination of Homeopathy & Allopathy in treating patients from ailments. It is also equipped with a Trauma Center to deal with casualties.
