Dear Cycling Friends,

If you haven't ventured our way in a while, you're in for a few BIG SURPRISES...yup, we've been busy as bees this winter making some changes at the shop. We'll admit it's actually becoming an annual thing for January and February!

We've relocated our major bike & accessory categories, creating kind of a Disney World-esque store layout where you just need to find what "land" you want to visit for your style of riding. Triathlete? Step into Triathlon Land for everything you need to complete your first tri OR crush your competition. Just getting started and want to stay fit? Recreation Land has everything you need to hit the canal path or Onondaga Lake Park in comfort AND style. What this means for you: more bikes, more room to browse, and the best customer experience you'll find in Central New York.

We realized early on that our bike shop is as much of a social experience as a retail experience, and we're constantly working on our store layout to welcome that. Belly up to the bar in our open service area and enjoy a free cup of coffee or espresso while our mechanics work on your bike. You might find some snacks there too!

Better yet, have a seat on our comfortable couch and swap stories with friends about your latest ride or race. We invite you to put your feet up and relax. We want you to stay awhile! At least until it's time for us to get outside and enjoy our daily ride...then come ride with us!

Happy Cycling,

Paul & Trish

A NIGHT WITH TIM O'SHEA
Come hear about his amazing adventure from Manlius to Mt. Marcy!
WHEN: Thursday, March 12th, 7-9pm
WHERE: Syracuse Bicycle, 2540 Erie Blvd, E.
SPECIAL DEAL: All cold weather gear discounted 30% and in honor of Tim's journey we're donating 10% of sales to Two Smiles, One Hope. As always, light refreshments provided!

Local fitness coach Tim O'Shea completed an incredible endurance endeavor last week and raised over $10,000 for the Two Smiles, One Hope Foundation. Inspired by Jack and Nolan Willis, Fayetteville twins fighting Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy, O'Shea made a non-stop journey from CNY to the top of Mt Marcy--the highest point in New York-- by bike, and on snowshoes.  The total, two day trek covering 222 miles took more than 30 hours.

Adding to the challenge was the fact that the National Weather Service reported that nearby Saranac Lake was among the coldest spots in the country at 7 a.m. It was minus 30 during the time that O'Shea and his team were hiking Mt. Marcy.

"I felt good, solid energy from start to finish," said O'Shea. He credits his ability to complete this incredible journey to proper preparation and a strong emotional connection to the cause. "My journey is done. But for Jack and Nolan, their journey and their challenges are there every single day. It's my hope that maybe this trip will bring things one step closer so one day they are going to wake up and be facing less of a challenge."

O'Shea's quest began at 6:30 a.m. last Monday in minus 10 degree weather from the Nice N Easy convenience store in Manlius. He cycled 207 snowy miles to the Mt. Marcy trailhead at the Adirondack Loj, located just outside the village of Lake Placid. After a short break to eat a meal, O'Shea put on his snowshoes. Joined by his support crew of Phil McCarthy and Paul Komencky,  he hiked 7.5 miles straight to the summit of Mt. Marcy.

Please join us on Thursday, March 12th from 7-9 p.m. at Syracuse Bicycle as we host Tim O'Shea for an evening of tale telling! He'll recount his journey - how he prepared and how he managed to withstand sub zero temperatures over 222 miles enroute to the highest peak in New York. Cold weather gear discounted 30% and we're donating 10% of sales to Two Smiles, One Hope! RSVP appreciated to [email protected]

Garmin Forerunner 920XT Multisport GPS Watch

"Overall, the Garmin 920XT is the best multisport watch in the market with the most features...If I were to choose a single triathlon watch for a race (which I often do), there's no doubt that it'd be the 920XT at this point.  Between the consolidation of new features from other devices, plus the minor adds of additional completely new features like the Metronome - it's hard to beat." - dcrainmaker.com

Multisport GPS Watch with Running Dynamics and Connected Features
  • Running dynamics include cadence, vertical oscillation and ground contact time
  • Offers VO2 max estimate, race predictor and recovery advisor
  • Features swim distance, pace, stroke type identification, stroke count, drill logging and rest timers
  • Smart notifications let you see email, text and other alerts on your watch
  • Connected features4: automatic uploads to Garmin Connect, live tracking, social media sharing

Dive In

Designed for open water and pool swimming, Forerunner 920XT measures every stroke and meter of your workouts and offers enhanced training capabilities. The sleek new design makes it wet suit-friendly and about 15% lighter than its predecessor, the 910XT model.

Crank Up Your Training on the Bike

The 920XT is compatible with sensors such as speed, cadence, heart rate and power meter - to provide advanced training capabilities. In addition to GPS, it can also receive GLONASS signals for improved accuracy.

Perfect Your Running Form

The 920XT can help you train for optimal running form by reporting running dynamics data when used with the HRM-Run? monitor. It also has a metronome with vibe and audible alerts to guide your cadence training. For ultra runners, it offers an UltraTrac mode that turns GPS off at certain intervals, extending battery life for up to 40 hours.
