The study findings clearly demonstrate that Toronto's Library delivers a strong return on investment that enhances the city's competitiveness and prosperity. Youth and the Internet
Felton Thomas, Director of Cleveland Public Library, OH, is a member of the Aspen Institute's task force on "Learning and the Internet," a group of 20 leaders in technology, public policy, education, business and online safety. Children's Oral Health at PCLS
Pierce County Library System, WA (PCLS) is a leading member of its community's Road Map Project, a comprehensive initiative to strengthen educational achievement from cradle to college, careers and beyond. Serving children in their early years is a cornerstone of this creative effort. Partnering with Washington Dental Service Foundation, PCLS created a toolkit of best practice methods and tools to help young children and families benefit through stronger oral health. The tools are integrated into the activities and services of member organizations of First 5 FUNdamentals, Pierce County's Early Learning Coalition. CA Mayor's Stellar Service
Milpitas, CA, Mayor Jose Esteves was recently recognized as the 2013 Elected Official for Outstanding Service to a Local Library by California Public Library Advocates. Mayor Esteves' contributions to Milpitas Library and Santa Clara County Library District were honored at the California Library Association annual conference in Long Beach last month.
Coffee, Conversations and
Opening Doors to the HomelessDallas Public Library has launched a new program to engage the homeless population which frequents its locations. Director Mary Jo Giudice says, "This type of program has been a dream of mine since I moved from branch manager to the central library years ago." Read more about the 1-hour sessions.
