Hi!
It's been a rewarding and fun summer seeing all the pics of CPR "graduates" out and about boating, hiking, and having fun at the beach! Thank you so much to everyone who has emailed or Facebooked us with these sweet and silly updates - we love seeing CPR pups go on to such great lives!
We have a super busy fall ahead of us -- the big news is the reunion will be October 26 in Southington, Conn.! We'll have pet portraits by the amazing Colten Tognamino and Dogged Pursuit Photography, costume contests and games, great music, pups for adoption, and some yummy food trucks. We hope you and your CPR pups will pencil us in and come out for a day of fun!
We also have lots of adoption events planned, and some great fundraisers going on. With your help, we rescue and find loving homes for about 200 pups per month. It's going to be a great fall and as always, we thank you for your support!
With love,
Molli Bowen,
CPR Founder & President

Some of you may have been lucky enough to meet Penny, who is often hanging out at the adoption center in Southbury, Conn. with her foster mom, Heather Dewey. Penny has a heart murmur and she needs an expensive surgery to fix it. After that, she should be adoptable and there is not a sweeter dog in need.
Click here to read more about Penny's story, her adventures, and her fundraising progress, and to learn how to donate.
If Facebook isn't your thing, you can donate at the adoption center in Southbury or email mollibo@gmail.com for a mailing address or PayPal link.
We are taking monetary donations and bottles and cans so helping out can be as simple as collecting some cans and bringing them by.
Penny thanks you and we do too! Penny and Heather

RIDE FOR RESCUE RECAP
|
The Ride for Rescue had a great first year thanks to lots of wonderful volunteers and sponsors, and thanks to the hard work and creativity of Lisa Belcher and Karin Ludgis for dreaming it up and making it happen! Riders enjoyed a post-ride cookout at the VFW and lots of awesome auction items to bid on. The rain didn't dampen anyone's spirits and more than $1,000 was raised for the pups!
Greg Belcher, Sr. and Jenn Belcher not only provided all the food, but they also cooked, set up, and provided everything we needed from the tablecloths to serving pieces and everything in-between.
Rosalie and John DeCrosta decided their donation for the event would to cover the bill for the food and drinks. In addition, Rosalie knitted doggie-placemats and handmade dog beds to sell with 100 percent profit to CPR.
Linda Danziger and Jay French with Konica Minolta designed and printed all the signage for the event at no cost to CPR.
Pastor Bish donated his time at the beginning location to provide a prayer and a bike blessing before the start of the event.
The Knights of Columbus, Columbus Club of Wallingford provided their facility at no cost as well as homemade breakfast sandwiches, coffee, tea, soda, water, bagels and danishes. Ralph, Jeff, Tony, Christine and Brooke were on site to assist with anything we needed.
Watertown VFW Post 5157 provided their club to us at a large discount. Brian also participated in the ride!
Xtreme Designs of New Haven printed our shirts for a deeply discounted price.
We also received many donations - be sure to thank our donors for supporting CPR!:

ADOPTION 'TAILS
Sarah Ferguson's writes: A year ago, we adopted Mya, and we couldn't be happier. She brings so much joy to us every single day. She is curious, friendly, sweet to a fault, and greets every day with bright eyes and a wagging tail. She is happiest when cavorting with her pack of doggy friends, but loves a quiet day at home with her family pack, too. Her idiosyncrasies are many, but they only make us love her more. She is such a beautiful, beautiful girl, and we feel so lucky to have her. THANK YOU for giving us the opportunity to add Mya to our family!

VOLUNTEER CORNER

CT VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Sandy is a CPR volunteer, foster and adopter -- a triple threat! Her enthusiasm is contagious and she rarely misses an adoption event. She helps welcome new volunteers into the crew and she's always willing to pitch in where needed. Sandy has a very soft touch with the pups, so she has often been called on to help with the underdogs - she has helped sick pups get well and she has helped shy dogs gain the confidence needed to be adoptable. Most recently, her foster dog Ringo who overcame many challenges from being a feral streetdog. After taking on such a challenge, you'd think she'd need a break but Sandy jumped right back in, and is currently fostering Dagwood. Sandy is a busy career woman with lots of family and social obligations, but luckily for the dogs CPR is a passion and she always makes helping a priority. She often says "rescue soothes the soul!" Sandy has a huge heart and we are so thankful for her dedication to CPR's pups!

TN VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
This month we introduce you to Susan and John Gilbert! Susan and John love fostering both puppies and adult dogs. Susan has been with CPR since its inception and she often takes on dogs who need extra tlc. Susan is a physical therapist so rehabilitation comes naturally, whether the one needing a gentle touch is human or canine. John can often be seen at transport, running dogs to the vet, or making pups comfortable when they are first rescued. Current fosters include Ella, Lena, Prissy, Gidget and Brinnie! Susan also assists several other foster families with their foster dogs. Susan and John inspire us all with their dedication and we are so lucky to have them as part of the CPR team!

A trained dog is a happy dog - professional training is worth every penny - even if your dog is "perfect." Training really teaches YOU the most effective ways to communicate with your dog and offers lots of great socialization too! It's never too early but it's also never too late!

CPR highly recommends Petfirst Insurance - we are not affiliated with them and do not get any "kickbacks", but since it is effective starting at midnight the day you activate it, and covers a variety of illnesses and injuries, it is a plan worth serious consideration! Find out more at
