ELECTIONS NEXT CLUB MEETING

 

A message from North Island President Dave Arnold - I want to remind everyone that we will be holding elections at the next club meeting. Please come and vote for the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Currently we have Dave Arnold as the Presidential nominee, MaryJo Lau for Treasurer, and Jean McCasey for Secretary. As you can see we are still looking for a candidate for Vice President. Please contact Frank Arambarri at vp@nisnowdrifter.com if you want to run for any of the executive board positions at this year's elections. This is a great way to give back to the club. If you can't make it to the elections please use the absentee ballot here and send to Frank.

 

We also have many appointed positions on the board that are equally as important. I will not list them here, but I recommend you take a few minutes and see if there are any that interest you. All the positions are listed on the website. We are always working to improve the club, so I am asking that you think about helping any one of the board members with their job this year as an assistant. This will give you the opportunity to give back to our club and help us continue into the future.

NEW EVENTS!

Tuesday, April 21st at 5:30 - Join your Snowdrifter friends for a fun happy hour in a different neighborhood!
Callahans Pub & Brewery, 8111 Miramesa Blvd, San Diego 92126
Tuesday special is $2 full size, delicious tacos (beef, chicken, fish & pork) taco special doesn't start until 7:00 but there are other food options available all the time. Great variety of craft beers, reasonably priced wine plus a full bar. Happy hour organizer Janie Lindenfeld.
 
Thursday, May 7th at 6:00 - Tour of the Green Flash Brewery
and beer tasting.

The tour starts at 6:00, cost is $5.00 and it includes 4 beer tastings. After the tour we can enjoy the creative tasty offerings of the "Gastro Food Truck". The menu changes from time to time, the menu is created to pair with Green Flash brews.   Click here to see the menu. EVENT UPDATES!

Saturday, April 11th, meet at 7:30am for a train adventure to Historic Olvera Street.

The Metrolink train to old Historic Olvera Street & China Town leaves at 8:15 sharp. We need to meet early so that we give ourselves enough time to purchase tickets. It is $10.00 round-trip.

Metrolink ADDRESS: 235 S.Tremont St., Oceanside.  Take 5 N, exit Mission Ave. off ramp, turn L over freeway continue down to Coast Highway turn L, turn R on Michigan St. & R on S. Tremont St. the Train Depot is on the left. Park and head to machine in front of the office. We can eat and rest on train. Trains return to Oceanside at 2:00 and 4:40 which arrive back at 4:15 and 6:55. We can see how the day goes and decide which one to take. Dress comfortable, bring a light jacket, shopping bag, and something snacky to share on the way up and maybe a water. This will be a fun day!

Saturday, August 1st, 4:00pm, mark your calendar for the Chili Cook-off!

Unfortunately last year this event had to be cancelled due to some scheduling conflicts. We know a lot of you have been dying to bring out those recipes and test out your skills! We will again have "movies on the lawn" after the sun goes down and the pool and Jacuzzi will be heated and open all day! This year we have lowered the fee and made the event bring your own drinks! The cost is $5.00 which will include BBQ, salad, movie snacks, and the tasting cups and spoons. Click here for the flyer with information on times, and competition rules. Please let us know if you have any suggestions on a category for the judging. Currently we have four categories, fun prizes will be awarded for each!

2015 FWSA ANNUAL CONVENTION June 4th - 7th
Have you always wanted to attend one of the Far West annual conventions but didn't want to travel? Well this year the convention is right here in our own town! The activities range from dinner on the USS Midway, a Seal Tour, a San Diego Trolley Tour, a trip to the Zoo, a Golf Tournament, dinner and dancing Saturday night at the Awards Banquet, a Silent Auction with lots of great trips, and a Happy Hour before the auction where we try to make a new record for the Guinness Book of World Records for "the most people in a GIANT grass skirt".
