Spotlight Horses

CG
C.G. formerly known as Diego

This is a Re-Rescue from the Colorado Feed Lot Group

C.G. was at the Centennial Auction and purchased by a group representing a well known kill buyer. The horse was misrepresented to the buyer as started and gentle. After the new family got the horse home, they learned that he was a far way from trained. In fact, he was largely un-handleable and very terrified of humans. After months here at Zuma's and multiple trainers/handlers gentling him, C.G. is nearly ready for a first mount. Follow his progress on social media #CG@Zuma's.

Most recently Brittnee spend a day in Februarys evaluating the #brush23 horses and backing most of them for their first assessments. It was during the visits with the #brush23 that Brittnee also stepped in and help us get Hewey under saddle and move C.G.  into being lead and having his hooves trimmed by Suzanne Kayser.

Business Majors- Zuma's has internships  available
Non-Profit Administration-Marketing-Data Base Management

Internship - career issues and concepts word cloud illustration. Word collage concept.
Are you a business/marketing major looking for a fun way to gain experience and or credits?  Zuma's is looking for someone to help with social media management, set up a data base of our volunteers, and help with grant writing. This is a great way to both learn new skills and give back to a non-profit at the same time. Why not intern with a non profit and make your efforts really mean something.  Zuma's has a blog that is rarely updated ;-( .We could also be tweeting a whole lot more about what's trending and how it relates to horses, kids, mental health services.

This very newsletter could really use some help from a marketing whiz-kid and our Facebook pages need a real wordsmith to grab attending and get the exposure our organization needs.
If you can help us out 1-2 hours a week by writing for our Blog, Tweeting and Facebooking, please join our team as an intern.

The volunteer management over here is a hot, hot mess and really needs a database manager to create a user friendly database management system to make the most our our volunteers. This is a long project that we are desperate for help with. If you can help us out email Jodi for details.

REHABILITATION CORNER

Eve's Surgery UPDATE

Well it is rarely just one emergency here with the horses at Zuma's. Below is a photo of Eve getting her OCD surgery which went very well. Eve will have a long stall rest (6-weeks) to recover and then will need to be

But as I said, things rarely come in ones when it comes those emergencies. Just off the heels of Missy in the hospital for 2 days with ulcers, colic and anemia costing $2900 Eves' surgery ran about $1500 and the third strike was Tinsel needing a tooth surgically removed which will cost about $350 when all is said and done...  Tinsel is on a wet diet to allow her mouth time to heal and will require a soft diet going forward to eliminate hay packing in the hole left in her molars.
