Because the vision of JCFI is to raise a greater awareness of Israel in the churches of Johnson County, we want to connect you to some of our friends who work to bless Israel.

This month I have an update for you from the Singerman Family!

Chaim and Ruti Singerman operate the Jerusalem Hills Inn, a bed and breakfast located in the village of Abu Ghosh on the outskirts of Jerusalem

(www.jerusalemhillsinn.com). The B&B is situated in a unique area in that Jews, Arabs, and Christians live peaceably together. The Singerman's, a family from Texas with 6 children, made aliyah (return to Israel) in 2009. They are passionate about providing a warm and loving atmosphere for their guests from all over the world. Please, make plans to stay there WHEN you visit Israel next!

Yochanan (Jonathan), the Singerman's eldest son, recently began his time in the Israeli Defense Force (IDF). Many of you have been praying for Yochanan, especially during the recent war in Gaza. A few days ago, I received an email from Ruti concerning Yochanan's Artillery Gradutation:

We spent an amazing day in the hot desert recently and got to see into
Yochanan's world.  He showed us around the base, and we saw the artillery vehicles, the inside and out-very impressive  (the bathrooms too- very not impressive).  After the graduation ceremony, there was a demonstration in which they shot off into the distance.  It was incredibly loud (ear plugs provided upon entrance) and seconds later we saw the desert hill in the far distance being hit. Thank you for your prayers for him and all the IDF soldiers.

Blessings,
Ruti

Pray for the Singermans as they reach out in love to their guests !

UN Finds Greatest Violator of Women's Rights: Israel, of course!

The UN has found the greatest violator of women's rights in the world - and it's Israel for "violating the rights of Palestinian women." The report released by the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), was disputed in an article on the website of Fox News written by Professor Anne Bayefsky, director of the Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust:

The 2015 CSW resolution on Israel says "the Israeli occupation remains the major obstacle for Palestinian women with regard to their advancement, self-reliance and integration in the development of their society." Not Palestinian men. Not religious edicts and traditions. Not a culture of violence. Not an educational system steeped in rejection of peaceful coexistence and of tolerance. Instead, the fault for a UN statistic like this one - an average of 17% of Palestinian women are in the labor force as compared to 70% of Palestinian men - lies with the Jewish scapegoat !

Bayefsky noted the CSW makes no mention of countries which truly violate women's rights such as Syria, where government forces routinely employ rape and other sexual violence and torture against women as a tactic of war; Saudi Arabia, where women are physically punished if not wearing compulsory clothing, are almost entirely excluded from political life, and cannot drive; and Iran, where crimes such as "adultery" are punishable by death by stoning of the woman and where every woman who registered as a presidential candidate in the last election was disqualified. "In fact, not only is there no possibility that the UN Commission on the Status of Women will criticize Iran, Iran is an elected member of CSW. Sudan - whose president has been indicted for genocide and crimes against humanity and is currently a CSW Vice-Chair," noted Bayefsky. (Arutz-7) More nauseating - but not surprising - lies and UN bias against Israel.

While I cannot speak for countries like Syria, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, Israel has at least JIJ Logoone organization fighting FOR women's rights. The Jerusalem Institute of Justice, led by Calev Myers, consistently advocates for the protection and betterment of women in Israel (that is Jewish, Arab, and ALL women). Check them out at www.jij.org.

And, PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM !

Should Jews have the right to visit the Temple Mount?

And, perhaps even pray there if they desire?

You would think the answer to that question would be simple: YES!

After all, Jerusalem has been the geographic heart and soul of Judaism for roughly 3,000 years -- since the time King David made it his capital city. And, no other spot on earth holds more meaning or sacred significance to the Jewish people than the Temple Mount, at the base of which the Western Wall (the Wailing Wall) of the old Temple courtyard still stands.

The Temple Mount is where Abraham prepared to offer his son Isaac in obedience until (foreshadowing the eventual coming of Messiah) God stopped him and provided a substitute sacrifice.

One thousand years later, King David purchased the threshing floor of Araunah on this spot (see 2 Samuel 24:24) and designated it to be the site for the Temple that would become a permanent habitation for the presence of God among the Jewish People.

It is the site of the Second Temple that stood in Yeshua's (Jesus') day, where the promised Messiah walked, taught, and worshipped.

Only the overwhelming force of invading armies have every been able to drive the Jews from that rock, sacred hill -- and then, only temporarily. The Babylonians, the Romans, the Crusaders, and finally the Muslim armies have all tried. But each time, the Jewish People have been drawn back to their historic, God-granted place of origin.

In other words, for 4,000 years, Jerusalem in general and the Temple Mount in particular have served as the geographic focal point for the Jewish People.

And yet, since 1948, it has been illegal for Israel's Jewish citizens or pilgrims to pray on that site, lest delicate Muslim sensibilities be inflamed. In fact, Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount have been forbidden to even move their lips, lest they quietly speak to God on the holiest ground known to Judaism.

Currently, there is a growing passion and yearning among the people of Israel to gather and pray on God's holy mountain.

God is stirring that yearning to pray. Some believe this may even be a part of His plan to soften Jewish hearts and open Jewish eyes to the truth that Yeshua is the promised Mashiach (Messiah)!

Ezekiel may have foreseen this movement when he prophetically wrote:

For on My holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Sovereign Lord, there in the land all the people of Israel will serve Me, and  there  I will accept them (Ezekiel 20:40).

That passion is growing into a full-fledged movement. And this movement could very well be a spark that ignites an explosive conflict that engulfs Israel and spreads throughout the Middle East.

Of course, this subject is a major hot-button for the Muslim Arabs of Jerusalem and beyond. In fact, recently, one of Israel's most visible activist leaders of the Jewish Temple Mount prayer movement, Yehudah Glick, was nearly assassinated by a Palestinian Muslim. He survived the attempt, but it serves as a chilling reminder of how ugly things might get over the next weeks and months.

After the assassination attempt, the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court reaffirmed that it is legal for Jews (and, therefore, Christians) to pray atop the Temple Mount, despite violent Muslim opposition.

That legal clarification came as part of a decision in the case by activist Yehudah Glick, who sued the Israel Police for banning him from the Temple Mount for a period of two years after he was filmed quietly uttering prayers while visiting the holy site in 2011.

Glick, who survived this recent attack by a Muslim terrorist, charged the police with failing to uphold Israel's laws regarding freedom of religious expression.

Israel's Supreme Court had previously ruled that Jews do in fact have the right to pray in any and every place, as do adherents of all faiths, but that police could take measures to avoid violent Muslim backlashes atop the Temple Mount.

The Jerusalem court determined that the police had gone too far in its handling of Glick and other activists, and had crossed the line by impinging on Jews' basic human rights.

Glick was awarded nearly USD $150,000 in damages. His lawyer further told The Jerusalem Post that the ruling meant that "starting from today, all Jews are allowed to pray on the Temple Mount. There is no longer any crime in prayer itself."

Still, many remained skeptical that non-Muslims would now be permitted to openly pray and worship atop the Temple Mount.  (article source Israel Today)

Remember, as Believers study the seasons and watch the prophetic clock of tomorrow, Israel is the hour hand, Jerusalem is the minute hand,

and the Temple Mount is the second hand.

Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem!

STUDY: ISRAEL HAS THE HEALTHIEST DIET IN THE WEST

Israel's is the country with the healthiest diet in the West, and the ninth healthiest diet in the world, according to a study published in The Lancet Global Health journal. Israel's Mediterranean neighbors - especially Turkey, Greece and Italy - received compliments in the research as well. The Israeli nutrition is considered healthy because it is based on increased consumption of fresh vegetables, olive oil, fruit and grains and on moderate consumption of proteins. The study was led by Dr. Fumiaki Imamura of the University of Cambridge, who looked into the eating habits in 187 countries with almost 4.5 billion adult residents. According to the researchers, healthier people eat more grains and legumes, milk, dietary fiber, omega-3s, fish and fruit. The researchers explained that African countries received the highest ranking thanks to their simple and unprocessed menu and the lack of junk food. While these countries' residents suffer from poverty, they actually have the healthiest food in the world. Chad, one of the poorest countries in the world, was ranked as the country with the healthiest diet overall, followed by Sierra Leon, Mali, Gambia, Uganda, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Israel and Somalia. The country with the least healthy diet overall is Armenia, followed by Hungary, Belgium, the Czech Republic and Kazakhstan. (Ynet) Israel: "A land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey" Deut 8:8 !  Hmmm. Maybe, the Lord knew what He was talking about!

Bridge of Hope Update...
We Are Growing !

One way JCFI raises awareness of Israel's role today is through building a Bridge of Hope (BOH).  A Bridge of Hope is a "bridge" built between a Church or organization of Johnson County and a Congregation, Home Group, Faith-Based Organization, or Individual within Israel. At JCFI we currently have 22 Congregational BOH's and 5 Organizational BOHs  that are up-and-running with MANY in the process. The BOH project is blessing people both in Israel and here in Johnson County as it provides connection through fellowship, prayer support, educational exchange, and more.  (Click
HERE for more info)

We would love to hook you up!  I am Skyping almost weekly with those in the Land who are eager to link up in a "sister" relationship with a congregation or organization in Johnson County.  Be in prayer for us as we establish new connections with ministries in Israel that desperately need our support and prayer.

If your church would like to know more about becoming a BOH to a congregation in Israel, click HERE or contact me by phone at 817-556-1061817-556-1061  / by email me at [email protected].

Let's build a Bridge together as we stand For Israel!

Highlighting a New Bridge of Hope!

Pastor Howard Bass from Beersheva, Israel has connected in a Bridge of Hope with Pastor Randy Brown (Grace Baptist) from Grandview, Texas.

Here are a few words from Pastor Howard....

Nachalat Yeshua (Jesus' Inheritance)

The first Messianic congregation in Beer Sheva in modern times (meaning our lifetime!) is called by the name Nachalat Yeshua, which means Yeshua's Inheritance. That's who we already are now, along with all others whose faith and hope are in Him. It is what we have been set apart unto Him for: He is our inheritance, and we are His (Isaiah 53:10-11).

At Nachalat Yeshua, Hebrew is the primary and unifying language between us when our native tongues don't communicate to one another. To be honest, we've also found that even in the same native speech the communication isn't always clear.  Translation is provided into Russian, English, and Spanish. We meet in an old Turkish house, privately owned property by Christians for about 100 years, in Beer Sheva's Old City (downtown). We are cross-denominational; that is, we belong with all others whose sins have been forgiven through the death on the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ, and who call upon the name of the Lord out of a pure heart. As the Bride of the Lamb, He is our (my) beloved, and we are His!

Passover is upon us. The paradigm of YHVH  bringing His covenanted people out of Egypt and from hard bondage still  remains the great act by which people know the God of Israel.  For us  who know Him personally through the Passover Lamb, Jesus, and His  sacrifice of Himself on the cross to deliver us from the world, and  Satan's cruel bondage, and from all our sin -- we celebrate a greater  Passover -- from death to life -- as we eagerly wait for the adoption,  the redemption of our bodies in the resurrection at the coming again of  the risen and exalted Deliverer, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah!

Yeshua's Inheritance Cong. and the Hasdey Yeshua Cong. in Arad will be  doing the Passover together at the "Old House", our congregational home  in Beer Sheva's historic Old City.  http://streamsinthenegev.com/nachalat-yeshua2/history-of-15-haavot-st/

We have been blessed this past week at the congregation with a German  evangelistic group that reaches out to university students.  They have  been staying at the Old House, and doing their ministry on campus.  Tonight there is going to be a special students' meeting (an otherwise  regular weekly event), with some of those students who have taken an  interest in the faith during the outreach coming also to meet some other  believers.  WE PRAY THAT THESE OUTREACHES WILL PRODUCE GODLY FRUIT IN  ITS SEASON.

God bless you as you trust in the Lord,
Howard and Randi Bass

Until we are all ONE! (Eph.2:15) !

Hebrew Helps
As we work to build a greater awareness of Israel in Johnson County and continue to connect to Believers and Jews in the Land, we are often ask, "What does that word mean?".  So, each month at JCFI we will ad to a glossary of terms to help broaden our Hebrew vocabulary. Please, enjoy this Hebrew Help and contact us with any definitions you think we should ad.

This month's Hebrew Help definition is:

Azazel (ah-za-ZAYL)

Scapegoat. Goat sent into the wilderness signifying removal of the nation's sins (Lev.16:8, 10, 26). Jesus, the Passover Lamb, is also our scapegoat!

Previous Month's Definition

Brit Chadashah (breet kha-dah-SHAH)

The Hebrew word for "New Covenant" or "New Testament." "prayer." Brit means "covenant" and chadashah means "new."

Recom Reading List Logomended Reading

This month JCFI encourages you to get a copy of:

HOW CAN I STAND FOR ISRAEL?

Since the Banquet, many have ask me, "What can I do for Israel?"  While this is certainly not an exhaustive list, here are a few suggestions I hope you find useful:

1. Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem (Psa.122:6)
"For Zion's Sake I Will Not Be Silent" by Rebecca Brimmer is an excellent guide on
prayer for Israel. Click HERE for more info.

2. Learn more about Israel-related ministries
There are wonderful Israel-related ministries doing a great work to support Israel. Click
HERE to learn more about a few of them.

3. Learn more about the Hebraic Roots to Christianity
The Bible often takes on deeper meaning in the context of its Hebraic Roots. The
Ancient Hebrew Scroll project at the CHF is a testimony to this fact. There are
numerous writings about Hebraic Roots. A good place to start is the book by
     D. Thomas Lancaster entitled Grafted In.  Click HERE for more info.

4. Take a trip to Israel     I've been blessed to travel to Israel many times.  It has
changed my life. I baptized my daughter, Lauren, in the Sea of Galilee during my trip
there in 2011. She had accepted Jesus as her Savior 3 days before we left. This
should be at the top of any bucket list!

5. Be an Israel contact person for your church
The vision at JCFI is to increase the awareness of Israel within the churches of
Johnson County. Maybe you could support your pastor by volunteering to be the
church's Israel contact person for JCFI.

6. Build a Bridge of Hope
Speak with your Pastor / Church Leaders about building a BOH.  Feel free to
contact me for more info by phone at 817-556-1061 or by email  at                                 [email protected].
