Farm News & Tom's Reflections

CSA - A healthy partnership of land, plant, animals, and people

Aldo Leopold in his classic book, A Sand County Almanac, spelled out a "land ethic" which is at the core of our Community Supported Agriculture Program and a guiding principle for land stewardship. The land, Leopold says, "is like a community of interdependent parts, with the soil, the plants, the animals, and the people all playing equally important roles. We share an equal responsibility in contributing to the strength, sustainability and health of the community as a whole." For the last 18 years the farm's CSA program and everyone's participation in it has directly contributed to the health and life of our land, its people, plants, animals, and soil and we are excited and committed to continue on that journey.   Continue reading on our web site

Community Farm Day

Dry-farmed Tomato U-Harvests Continue

The tomatoes are still gorgeous and we've decided to leave the u-harvest field open every Saturday from 10:00AM - 3:00PM until rain wipes them out. So, if you want to come to the farm and pick a load of some fantastic dry-farmed tomatoes you still have a chance. It's self-service, pick-and-pay. Instructions will be posted at our Green Valley Barn Farm Stand. Once it starts raining in earnest, we will close the u-harvesting.
