Worship this week - November 17th

Dr. McIvor's sermon is "Let Them Eat Cake" based on 2 Thessalonians 3.6-13. When hungry crowds pressed in on Jesus, the disciples wanted to dismiss them. Jesus said, "No. You give them something to eat." In this text the apostle Paul says, "Anyone unwilling to work should not eat." That sounds more like the disparaging and cynical remark attributed (wrongly) to Marie Antoinette. Are Jesus and Paul contradicting each other? The text asks hard questions about our duty to others, both those inside and outside our community of faith.

Holiday Cheer Program
As the Holidays are approaching it is time to once again sign up and sponsor a child this Christmas. We are working with the Framingham Resource center to help disadvantaged children and families during the holiday season. Please help to put a smile on a child's face this Christmas morning. Choose a child and then purchase 2 toys/1 clothing item (under $25 each) or a gift card. We are also looking for donations of grocery store gift cards for the families to help them purchase food. All gifts are due back at the church by December 15th. Thank you for once again for your support. See Heather Goetsch with any questions.

Your prayers and financial support are needed.

Super Typhoon Haiyan left monumental devastation when it struck the central Philippines on November 8, 2013. The storm has been identified as one of the worst recorded typhoons in history. Hundreds of thousands of people are displaced.

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is working in collaboration with partners to respond to this crisis. The funds used for this assistance come from the gifts made through One Great Hour of Sharing, but more is needed for this major catastrophe. If you wish to help, please make your gift designated for Typhoon Haiyan relief by going online to a the designated fund web page for this disaster here

Little Children of the Philippines

Many have asked about the staff, families, and children involved in the LCP program and how they are doing. We have received word that they are all doing okay at this time. The map to the right shows where LCP is located in relation to the epicenter of the typhoon. Dumaguete City is 176 miles from Tacloban (the equivalent distance of Boston to Yonkers, NY).
