This Week in Connections....
Learn More About Telematics and Its Impact on Your Business and the Auto Care Industry
One of the CAWA Leadership's goals for 2015-2016 is to educate the industry and others regarding the term telematics. Our national partner has commissioned articles (called Telematics Trends) on the subject and they can be found at http://www.autocare.org/Secondary.aspx?id=200&gmssopc=1 . Recall, too, that CAWA has a video which defines telematics in its simplest form. See www.cawa.org to view the video. Furthermore, should you have any questions regarding telematics legislative proposals in the three states we represent, please contact our Director of Government Affairs, Jennifer Zins at [email protected] or 916.871.0603.

2015 AWDA Company Registration - Deadline Approaching
The deadline to register your company for the 2015 AWDA Business and Education Conference is May 1, 2015. Completion of this form will solidify your company's participation in the AWDA Conference and One-on-One business meetings. Hotel reservations and additional attendee registration forms will be accepted through July 31, 2015. Visit www.autocare.org/awdaconference to view all registration materials. Please email [email protected] with any questions you may have or call 301-654-6664.
Accommodating Pregnant Workers: U.S. Supreme Court Weighs In
The U.S. Supreme Court recently gave new life to a pregnancy discrimination claim brought by Peggy Young, a former UPS driver. At issue in Young v. United Parcel Service, Inc. was whether an employer must provide the same work accommodations to a pregnant employee as the employer provides to similarly situated, non-pregnant employees. The Court's 6-3 decision allows Young to proceed with her lawsuit under the federal Pregnancy Discrimination Act. Although the case may create a more challenging burden for employers at the federal level, the case may have less practical impact at the state level on employers. Questions: Check in with our legal counsels in all three states for your ? hour a month FREE legal consultation. Visit www.cawa.org to find our attorneys in Arizona, California and Nevada.
