Help Workforce Planning Hamilton to help you! Complete the Hire Learning Survey today...

Workforce Planning Hamilton invites employers across Hamilton to complete the Hire Learning Survey.  Whether you are a big or small company, a for-profit or not-for-profit, we want to hear about your hiring experiences and needs.

The Hire Learning Survey is the result of an extensive joint effort to provide employers, job seekers, and community organizations valuable insights into the demand-side of Hamilton's labour market. It is designed to collect
information annually from the city's employers on a range of labour issues, such as labour turnover, hard-to-fill positions, recruitment difficulties and any current or future skill shortages.

This vital data is not captured by other organizations and understanding it will help all members of the community use real-time local labour market information. This will help
Hamilton to gauge and strategize about skills shortages, gaps and mismatches. The survey will be open throughout the month of January, so please let us know about your hiring experiences today. Please share the survey with other Hamilton employers.

You can access the survey here:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HireLearning2014

The survey will take 15-20 minutes to complete. For more information please contact Workforce Planning Hamilton at 905-521-5777.
Our apologies for cross postings.

The Need to Make Skills Work: The Cost of Ontario's Skills Gap

The report, authored by Daniel Munro, of The Conference Board of Canada, examines the economic cost of Ontario's skills gaps, and the specific occupations, skills, and credentials employers and individuals need to thrive in the emerging economy.

* The lower employment rates of these less-skilled workers may cost the Ontario economy as much as $24.3 billion annually in forgone GDP.
* Hamilton's share of this would be roughly $1 billion.
* Health, advanced manufacturing, mining, business services, as well as a range of management and supervisory occupations across sectors, stand out as facing skills shortages at the national level.
